Want deeper, cleaner bass without redoing your whole setup? Let’s unpack the Sub Pro. It’s WiiM’s first subwoofer and it’s already sparking a lot of questions and possibilities. I sat down with the product manager to get the inside story: how it works, why it’s different, and what’s next. Thanks for joining me!
Product Manager: Thanks, Ryan. Excited to be here and talk about the Sub Pro. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re proud of what we’ve built, our first subwoofer launching shortly before the WiiM Sound! This is a big year for WiiM.
Ryan: Let’s start with the basics. What makes the Sub Pro different from other subwoofers on the market?
Product Manager: Sub Pro is more than a powerful subwoofer—it’s built to be smart, fusing serious hardware with true ‘smart‑sub’ intelligence. A custom 8-inch long-throw driver and 250W Class-D amp deliver clean, deep bass down to 25Hz with less than 1% THD+N. The result is sound you feel, not just hear.
What sets it apart is RoomFit™, a one-touch AI calibration that tunes EQ, phase, and delay based on your room’s acoustics. No dials. No guesswork. Just precise, low-end performance adapted to your space.
You can pair it wirelessly with any WiiM streamer, amp, or speaker using Wi-Fi 6E for stable, low-latency playback; even in setups without a sub-out. Prefer cables? Sub Pro also includes an RCA input for the highest reliability and connections with third-party gear too.
Once connected, the WiiM Home app gives full control: crossover, phase, latency, sub level, and firmware updates.
Sub Pro isn’t just loud. It’s clean, responsive, and flexible. Made for real listeners. Tuned for real rooms.
Ryan: As folks who’re following along likely know, we’ve renamed Room Correction with an officially marked RoomFit™, which has always been a standout feature that gets a lot of attention. How does it work on the Sub Pro with the rest of the WiiM ecosystem?
Product Manager: Seamlessly. RoomFit™ runs on the WiiM device that the Sub Pro is paired with and will let you tune the sound for the room. This lets you put it in corners to ramp up the bass and move it around as needed to get just the right spot for your listening room.
Ryan: A few users asked whether it’s ported or sealed and what kind of cabinet design you went with.
Product Manager: It’s ported, which helps extend the low-frequency response and improve efficiency. The cabinet is built for acoustic performance. We went with a rigid, vibration-resistant, design and tuned it to minimize resonance. We wanted something that looks sleek but performs like a beast.
Ryan: What’s the best placement for the Sub Pro?
Product Manager: Front of the room or corner placement usually works best. The app helps dial it in, and RoomFit™ compensates for tricky layouts. We’ll be adding some physical placement recommendations on the Sub Pro out of box experience to help people place them.
Ryan: Let’s talk control. What kind of tuning options are available in the app?
Product Manager: The WiiM Home App gives you full control: 10-band parametric EQ, adjustable crossover frequency, phase, latency, and subwoofer level. You can fine-tune it to match your speakers and room, or let RoomFit™ handle it automatically.
Ryan: One question that keeps popping up, can users run two Sub Pros as a stereo pair?
Product Manager: If you’re using two stereo speakers with dedicated sub outputs, you can pair a Sub Pro with each channel and get stereo bass that way. It works as is, and a few users have already done it. That said, when you're using two Sub Pros in a shared-zone setup, they currently play in mono. We're actively looking into multi-sub configurations, including true stereo pairing and room-wide optimization. It’s on our radar.
Ryan: And what about aesthetics? Any chance of a white version?
Product Manager: We’re starting with black at launch, and due to the community’s requests, we’ll have a white version soon after, possibly as early as September 2025.
Ryan: Final question for now, what’s the vision behind the Sub Pro? Why now?
Product Manager: Over the past few years, we’ve seen plenty of WiiM users connecting third-party subs to our streamers and amps. But the setup often involves a mess of dials, cables, and clunky calibration apps. Sub Pro solves that with a one-tap experience.
First, it’s community-driven. People kept asking for tighter, deeper bass that feels as seamless as the rest of their WiiM gear.
Second, the tech is finally ready. With our latest Wi-Fi 6E platform and RoomFit™ auto-calibration, we can deliver clean, wireless bass that truly “just works.”
And third, it completes the system. Sub Pro drops right into any WiiM or RCA-equipped setup, filling out the low end without extra hardware or trial and error.
Bottom line, Sub Pro is the smart, affordable subwoofer our users have been asking for. And now, the tech is mature enough to make it effortless.
Ryan: Love it. Thanks for the deep dive! Also, thanks to everyone in the community who helped shape this product. If you’ve got more questions, drop them in the thread and we’ll keep the conversation going.
