I don't like using the remote everytime for voice command for the Wiim ultra. Is there anyway to use it like a regular regular Alexa device where I can simply say "Alexa play this" without the remote as a standalone device (does ultra main device have a mic?).

I've currently connected an Amazon echo to it a work around but I would rather it just be the Wiim. Thanks.

Welcome.

The ultra does have a mic, but I'm 99.9% sure it's still only used for audio synchronisation / latency purposes.

This post is from nearly a couple of years ago, before the ultra, but I'm pretty sure that the principle still stands.

You can use an “unconnected” echo, the voice remote, the “talk to Alexa” option in the Alexa or Amazon music apps to send audio to a WiiM device.

See the first part of this response (up until it delves deeper into the echo link, which is a separate discussion): https://forum.wiimhome.com/posts/30459/
