WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.739061 Update - Dec 18, 2025

Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.739061 (In Progress)

Release date:

Dec 18, 2025

Bug Fixes:
  1. Multiroom: Fixed an issue preventing multiroom setup with some routers.
  2. Google Cast: Fixed missing subwoofer bass output and EQ not working.

Understood. In the meantime, is anything wrong with sending feedback whenever you stumble across an issue? :)
In that way there will be many thousands of testers instead of an in-house regression test team. Maybe efficient but not the way you would normally expect it with professional products.

I don't say that WiiM is not testing it but we are seeing too many of these cases where things are broken without any reason.

No I always do that. But I like to post problems on here as I think that members of this forum have a great knowledge and may be able to resolve my occasional problem quicker than Wiim's support are able to. Also when someone else on here has the same problem I just think it helps someone out if I mention the steps I've taken to try to resolve the same problem.

I'm a bit confused, are you saying that I shouldn't post on here after I've opened a ticket with Wiim support?

Oh no, absolutely not! This forum is for discussion. (y)

I just wanted to make sure that everybody sends feedback in addition to what they might want to discuss in the forums.

Can you play lossless FLAC files ok? That seems to be an issue on the recent two firmware updates for the ultra
Sorry, deleted my comment because I didn't want to speak too soon. I have only ALAC & AIFF in my collection though, because it is managed through Apple Music. I think ALAC is pretty much the same as FLAC though?

*EDIT: same issues!!
- the bitrate, bit depth & sample rate seem to be incorrect indeed. (eg. a 24/92 file being reported as 232 kbps 16/48)
- randomly skipping to next song

If you've already submitted a ticket, I recommend including the ticket number in your post. (I always do this.)

It might be a bit of a hassle, but doing so prevents pointless arguments before they start. And when your team walks by, they can see your ticket right away, which increases the chances of things moving quickly.😄

Just tried to run the update. A lot of errors. Wiim....what should I do?
Welcome.

Errors relating to what? Plex?
As an interim solution you could use Join Beta Testing (in the Device info screen) to go back to a different version where Plex may work.

Sorry. I am a user. What is Plex.
Welcome

This is a user forum.

Could you please describe what errors you see and then maybe other users can help.

If you want to contact WiiM directly, then you can use the Feedback option in the WiiM Home App.

Can you post the error screen here?
Sorry, I didn't printscreen the errors. But it was during update. Three different errors. But it is solved now.
Finally, I closed the app, restarted it, and rebooted the Wiim Ultra. Then I updated again, and it worked fine. I didn't reset my router like some people have. I did turn off the 5 GHz only setting, as I'd read somewhere on the forum that this could cause problems. I don't know if this had any effect.
Note: I've noticed that the 5 GHz only setting is automatically turned on with every update, even if it was turned off. Very annoying. Just as annoying as Spotify used to automatically lower the quality with every update.

I mainly use Plex playlists to play the music from my library.
Since the last firmware update:
- The Wiim Android and Windows apps are showing the wrong Kbps (16-bit/44.1kHz flac should be close to 1000kbps, only showing 200-300 Kbps)
- Many songs are not played fully. It skips to the next song half way through.
Both issues are new. I have been using Plex playlists for over a year now.
I also have a Wiim Mini (20251102). For the Mini the apps still show the correct Kbps and the songs don't skip.
Plex Server Version 1.42.2.10156 on Synology NAS
Happy to report that after raising a ticket through the Wiim app, support have reverted the firmwares on my problem devices (Ultra & Sound). Plex playlists with FLAC files now work again. They promised to work on a fix in new firmware.

I don't need new firmwares. Everything works now and I have mine whitelisted. I use Plex. If you're not interested in new fw's ask to get back to an older fw. Afaik that'll stop automatically updating to newer fw's every time that appears to contain and introduce more errors than before.
