WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.739061 Update - Dec 18, 2025

Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.739061 (In Progress)

Release date:

Dec 18, 2025

Bug Fixes:
  1. Multiroom: Fixed an issue preventing multiroom setup with some routers.
  2. Google Cast: Fixed missing subwoofer bass output and EQ not working.

I don't need new firmwares. Everything works now and I have mine whitelisted. I use Plex. If you're not interested in new fw's ask to get back to an older fw. Afaik that'll stop automatically updating to newer fw's every time that appears to contain and introduce more errors than before.
I'm happy to have new firmware, and always look forward to receiving it. :)

New firmware tends to include new features and bug fixes but can admittedly introduce issues. However, by locking yourself to an older version of firmware, you’ll not get bug fixes nor enhancements to the plex functionality you have, or more importantly you’ll not get security fixes. Indeed, if you report a bug you’ll more than likely be asked to upgrade to the most recent version as it’s an almost possible task for companies to maintain multiple different versions at the same time.

Bug fixes? Don't have any. Enhancement to plex functionality? It works as I want it to work. Security fixes? Right :-) ....
Enjoy your updates. I'll update when something really interesting comes along, thanks.

My WiiM Ultra is now downloading Firmware Version 5.2.739648, dated 20251224.
I don't know whether this update will get its own thread, but I have noticed one change so far.

The 'VU Meter Mode' has changed, in that the 'Output Amplitude' setting now gives a higher reading than the 'Original Signal' setting.

This is now behaving the opposite to how it was previously, and seems wrong to me.

Us: We need the VU Meters and Spectrum Analyzers to work based on signal BEFORE DSP/volume control...

LinkPlay: Okay let's keep it applied after DSP/volume but just dial the sensitivity up to 11.

🤷‍♂️

That is why I added it to the latest announced version.
I'm a little confused here, do Wiim just send out new firmware without publishing any details first on the Forum? Or do they rely upon you to communicate these details to the rest of us?
I can see that you are high up in the Forum hierarchy and you obviously how all this stuff works so can you tell me where I would look to see a list of all firmware that has been released and more importantly what changes are included within each version.
Sorry to be a pain but I'm a bit OCD about firmware.

WiiM attempt to provide contents of new firmware in announcements in the forum but don’t always meet that target - sometimes the announcements come after the release for whatever reasons, and for minor interim releases they might not get noted at all.

You’ll find details of releases in the more/release notes section of the app.

I didn't get any release note information with this update, so I don't know what the changes are, and am a little surprised that no other forum member has mentioned receiving this update yet.

Thanks for the quick response, I see what you mean, no mention of this latest update. 👍

I am running two Ultras in the same room and using the same router, one received the latest Firmware Version 5.2.739648 dated 20251224 yesterday, while the other still reports no update available and is running the Firmware 5.2.739061 that was released on December 18th. Exciting times! :)

Interesting. Maybe roll-outs are based on serial numbers rather than on location.

And why the heck are you running two Ultras in the same room?🤣

I'm a hoarder collector of vintage radio & audio gear, I have several working units in various rooms of my home. Local Music Radio sucks big time so each Audio setup has its own dedicated Streamer. I like a bit of chit-chat with my music so therefore prefer IR radio streams. I have never bothered with any Music streaming service... perhaps one day? :)

Both Ultras usually update at the same time but this is the second time I have seen a staggered update. Maybe Mac addresses?

Did you get any release notes with this firmware, as I didn’t get any when I downloaded it on Friday.🤔

No, not at all. Not sure if it's my imagination though, that Ultra streams Greatest Hits Radio (UK) and while the music choice is good, the audio quality is extremely poor, they stream at a very low bit-rate but it definitely did appear to sound better last night than the norm.

Any suggestions for a higher-quality stream of GHR (UK) will be gratefully accepted, current stream is via vTuner.

Which stream do you get for Greatest Hits Radio? The highest bitrate I have seen is 112kbps MP3

Same here, both from Tunein and Lyrion. vTuner delivers 47/48 kbps in comparison. Don't know if you get higher if you're a premium member and signed in

Have you tried under Tunein?
Yes, plenty of similar sounding titles but not the UK station.

I found a station named GHR on TuneIn, I think it was 128kb/s, but it is not the UK GHR. Under vTuner I can only find "47kbps 24-bit/44.1 kHz".

Is the station that you found GHR as on Rayon? Do you have the stream details?
