As mentioned in a user reply from the WiiM/Linkplay CEO on the WiiM Fan Page on Facebook, WiiM are developing a new device called the WiiM Ultra which will have a screen, aluminium case and USB audio output. It should be available Q2 2024, so a good five to six months away.

Guess @Smartplug is due a prize (e.g. I'll lay off gently ribbing them about their constant 'when' questions) as I think they first suggested that name a while ago ;):ROFLMAO:

That's the entirety of the information I have, but WiiM do say they'll release more details in due course.

So, if a backyard workshop like Shiit can come up with an excellent MM/MC phono stage for that money, why shouldn't Linplay/WiiM be able to integrate a decent phono stage into the Ultra?

You clearly do not know what is Schiit Audio and who’s behind it, do you?

They've not left themselves anywhere to go on the name after this one right? The WiiM Really Ultra? The WiiM Super Duper Ultra?

Before that, MAX may be on the horizon. 😁

In the future, is there a possibility to launch a new brand for a more exclusive product? 🤔

since there are no more limits...why not ""guarneri"" while you're there...
and at least it's free...
(but it doesn't concern the target concerned I'm afraid... ;-) )

As the lunch approaches, I'm presuming that we'll get full spec at the launch in Munich.

So I wonder if there'll be a bulletin at the news page at the WiiM site on Thursday morning as the doors open. Or the night before. Or if the first we hear will be someone posting a picture of a leaflet from the show online.

It seems unlikely that the product will go on sale immediately after the show. They might have working prototypes.

Specs could be pretty much fixed, but not on a very detailed level (as with the other devices).

Very true.

I think specs that will be fixed are all ins and outs (already there) and what they can and can’t do, as well as the chips (etc.) being used, full specs on THD, SNR, etc.

Also what features it’ll have (how many band EQ).

I think it won’t be on sale until all of the extra features are sorted out in beta. This is happening in beta on other WiiM streamers, and once they’re pretty sure it’s all sorted they’ll send out a few Ultras for their own (presumably quick) beta.

Just my guess.

Agreed. I’d say into June at least before it goes on sale in the USA (assuming nothing significant is identified in beta testing) and elsewhere a month or so after that given past experience.
