Any plans to add YouTube music to the browser?

Just as a little side topic whilst talking about hi res, You tube music and being an "audiophile".
I went to see an Audiologist at my local Hospital 3 years as I felt I couldn't really tell my hi res tracks from standard resolution music.
It turned out that my ears were basically rubbish. I got chatting to the audiologist and she said she had lots of patients with similar problems to me. Nothing could be done to reverse it, just old age and a lifetime of being in noisy environments. I told her I considered myself a bit of an audiophile and she replied,
"well you ain't no more".
So all you "audiophiles" out there, enjoy it while you can, it may not last forever.

I doubt even with A1 hearing anyone can really tell hi-res from CD quality unless a different mastering was used .

Unfortunately YouTube music requires you to subscribe to their premium tier in order to use Google Cast. I can play their free version directly on my phone speakers but can’t send it to my device via cast.



YouTube Music makes it difficult to use their service unless you pay for premium. So hopefully WiiM can ease this issue by having it on device. We’ll see.

As far as I know even the services integrated in WiiM need a paid subscription to offer full functionality. You get what you pay for. And why should Google change their successful business model?

You can already use YouTube music free with the ads on many platforms. YouTube Premium removes the ads. I’m not asking WiiM or Google to remove the ads for free. I would prefer it to be integrated on device with ads. If you pay for premium then you’ll get it’s full functionality obviously.

I don’t know how ads would work on the WiiM as they’re largely video and the WiiM isn’t. Don’t know if YouTube have a free restricted audio only service like Spotify Free

I would hope that it would be audio only ads like on integrated smart speakers. Even YouTube music on smart watches is limited with audio only ads. I wonder if this is the reason it’s taken so long to get it integrated into WiiM?

It used to be that when you closed the YouTube page, the music would stop playing so you couldn't just listen whilst you did something else. You had to buy the premium subscription to carry on listening. Not sure if that's still the case as I subscribe now.
