Tidal A few days at Tidal and my nerves are quite frayed ...

Before I can play something via Tidal connect in the Windows desktop app, I first have to connect in the sound output window (but this is not possible, if the entry is not available).

When I play Tidal content via the Wiim Home App, the WiFi connection is already there and I just have to tap a song to start it.

By the way, I just had a notification in the windows app, that the app has been updated, maybe the solution is already there!? We will see ...
The Tidal Android app works exactly in the same way as the Tidal Windows app. And yes, the WiiM Home app for Android doesn't require the selection of the Connect target (but if you have multiple WiiM devices you must select the one you want to be active).

As I said before ...
They usually update the app every fortnight or so.
... and that was referring to the Tidal Windows app. It's possible that a new version might fix your problem. It's also possible that you have to solve a network problem, though.

Multiple Wi-Fi access points could lead to the problem, indeed, depending on configuration.

Is the PC and WiiM connected via WiFi and do you have multiple access points (a Mesh Network)?

No, the PC is connected via LAN, but I have also tested WiFi and the problem existed there too. I only have the Amp Pro, there are no other access points/devices.

If this happens, does the WiiM Amp Pro neither show up as a Tidal Connect nor as a Google Chromecast target?

I cannot remember any problems with Tidal on Windows connecting to my Amp Pro, neither with Windows 10 nor Windows 11. So, this is not a general issue, at least. That doesn't help, I know, but it might be an indication that you shouldn't stop researching.

Both can disappear.

But I'll wait and see, maybe today's update has helped. At the moment at least there are no problems (which doesn't mean anything, at all ...;))

Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed. I don't see anything mentioned regarding connectivity in the desktop version 2.38 release notes or in the general release notes. It's still possible that some minor bug fix solved your particular issue, of course.

It turns out that the Wiim Home app for Windows is causing the error.

I recently set up a new PC which is now running Windows 11 and the problem didn't occur for the first few days after the new installation. However, as soon as I installed Wiim Home for Windows, the problem immediately returned. Simply uninstalling the app didn't help, presumably remnants of the Wiim Home PC client were still doing their worst!?

For certain reasons, I then had to reinstall the operating system and after that I deliberately decided against installing Wiim Home. Since then, everything has been fine again.

I submitted this to the support, now it's their turn to fix it.

Have the same problem with trying Tidal.

Starting Tidal from my phone (Zenfone 9, andorid) works well but if I open the Tidal app on my laptop (AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS) it does not see what is playing on the WiiM Amp Pro :(
Both are on the same 5 GHz network using a Fritz!Box 4050 (preffered DNS on, IPv6 off in the settings of the WiiM).
Never had this problem with Spotify Connect.

Have the WiiM windows app installed.

Any tips?

[edit]
Strange, even there is a difference between using the Tidal app or the WiiM app on my phone.
Don't think this Tidal trail will last long :(

The Tidal Windows app is not intended to see what's playing on your WiiM Amp Pro. Either Tidal app (Windows or Android) can use the Tidal Connect feature to instruct the Amp Ultra what to stream. But they are working completely independently.

If the Windows app controls the Amp Ultra, then the Android app does not and vice versa.

PS:
You do have access to a common history of what's been played, of course.

I don't understand this, when I get home and turn on music with my phone and later in the evening sit at my laptop and want to skip to the next song in my playlist I have to grab my phone instead of using the laptop I'm already on?

Or use the WiiM Voice remote.

That's the way Tidal Connect works. It doesn't synchronise your sessions between different clients. This is different from Spotify.

If you don't like this behaviour you must complain to Tidal. WiiM cannot change the way Tidal works.
