Apple Music A Most Elegant Way to Get Bit-Perfect High-Res Apple Music with WiiM DSP & Bass Management!

Well I'm still having a problem with streaming hi-res Apple Music using the cable that came with my Macbook. According to a little research, not all Apple cables have an e marker chip, and perhaps the issue.

Okay, sorry; I didn’t pay enough attention with my previous response.

Since you’re on a MacBook, the sample rate is controlled by MacOS. There are software apps that can try to automatically adjust the sample rate to match whatever song is being streamed into Apple Music, but I’ve found it flakey/unreliable. If you have an iPhone or an iPad, try it with the same cable—you’ll find that the problem is not the cable, but that you’re playing from a Mac, sadly. This is a deficiency of the way that iTunes functions on MacOS.

Same issue with iPhone using Apple usb-c from phone to PO100. Still not getting lossless.

It's really not a big deal because I use Qobuz anyway and I have no issues with it and the PO100. From what little research I did it seems that not all Apple cables have the proper chip and therefore might not be hi-res friendly on Apple devices connected to the PO100.

Okay…this is a first I’ve ever heard of this problem. I use all sorts of random USB-C cables with my MacBook Air M1 (Audirvāna playback which locks the output device and plays bit-perfect high-res lossless without issue) as well as with my iPhone and iPad to external DACs and also DAC dongles and never had an issue. And I am definitely talking about a huge variety of cables from expensive, “hifi-grade,” stuff to some cheap crap that came with a $5 charger from the dollar store.

However, I have always had issues with the iTunes app playing high-res on my MacBook. It works perfectly fine on my iPhone and iPad, though, and always has.

My MacBook plays hi-res fine. It's getting it to my DAC that's the problem presently. While I didn't buy the PO100 for that purpose originally, but rather to experiment with reclocking on my Ultra, when I heard that it could also be used with Apple devices by connecting it's usb-c out to the PO100 and then connecting either Coax or toslink to my DAC. But no luck there, and no luck connecting my Macbook or iPhone usb-c to PO100 then to DAC getting hi-res through Apple. I can get hi-res with Qobuz using Ultra>PO100>DAC.

I wonder what the difference is between the Cubilux device and the PO100?

This is an external DAC (as opposed to WiiM Ultra)? Why not just go straight USB to the DAC? Or is the USB used up by something else? Almost all modern DACs have USB in.

No it's not a DAC. It's used for it's clocking with the assumption that the clock(or lack of one thereof) is not as good in the Ultra. I normally go from Ultra to the DAC via USB. Now I'm using the USB out of Ultra into the the PO100 then optical out to DAC.

Right; my point was that you can forego the PO100 Pro as well as the WiiM when going out of the laptop to the external DAC.

They offer high resolution loseless but only be disappointed because it can’t deliver high resolution because of their airplay.
