The files are being served over http so you don't need to open up everything at the OS level. The only reason I was thinking permissions is because it's working for Volumio itself (accessing directly) but not for anything over http.

It looks like a samba setting for insecurely following symlinks. Maybe it's the way Volumio is setup, or could be the users files.

No problem. Digging in to these things is half the fun!

Now off to find my Volumio SD card to see what wide links actually does ;-)
