Once again, I suspect that most people don’t use a coax cable, myself included.

I don’t own any cables with oversized plugs, so I have not experienced the problem you describe, but for future reference, I will check the plug dimensions of any prospective cable purchases.

I have never seen recessed phono sockets on anything else though. Why do it?

My solution? I enlarged the recess.
I did find it strange that this lesson was learnt between the pro / pro plus, and then repeated with the ultra.

I have a variety of interconnects. Some fit, some don't. The captive cable on my Rega tonearm uses locking Neutrik ends that don't fit. Requiring a customer to cut off expensive connectors isn't a wise move.

My solution? I enlarged the recess.

They do now, certainly on the P2 that I have, and these simply glide smoothly into the phono input of my Ultra.

Agree, but in my specific situation this wasn't a concern.

There is nothing wrong with Wiim’s engineering. This is a design decision. It looks fabulous. Especially at the price point. There are zillions of cable options to suit.

This is very much a first world problem. WiiM products are extremely good value when compared with the competition. If the cables you already possess don't fit, buy some that do.

It's not an expensive purchase (unless you're a cable junkey). It's not rocket science. Life's too short for this sort of grumble.
