WiiM Amp Ultra Users Experience

Ethernet instead of WiFi should indeed help. I’d have to put in a switch for that and I’m not sure if the total consumption would decrease.

It is copying it (folder.jpg from each album) over to this cache directory for some strange reason ? Never seen a streamer (had a bunch) do that ?
My Eversolo updates the files on its internal SSD in just a couple minutes. others I have had were even faster.
As said before, the WiiM devices with USB storage support (Amp, Amp Pro, Ultra and Amp Ultra) don't simply access the file system. They implement a media server based on MiniDLNA instead to support ID3 tags for more flexible navigation. You may like this or not (some for sure don't) but it's a design decision and creating a cover art cache is pretty normal for media servers. MiniDLNA does it for sure.

15 minutes indicate a rather fast SSD. Isn't that perfectly acceptable for a one-time-process? Re-scans after adding new contents will be a lot faster (unless you select a full scan I stead of a quick scan on purpose).

So I thought maybe I can just remove the USB SSD and turn On the file sharing on the Eversolo since they are the same files.
Just power on the Eversolo when needed and go upstairs to the bedroom Wiim Amp I thought.
The Eversolo however uses SMB file sharing which I could not get to work with this Wiim Amp.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong ?
Works the other way as the Eversolo can detect the Wiim files but I don't need/want that.

So my list of issues (or rants as some would say), is down to making the clock screen in standby dimmer (maybe a separate setting just for that ?), adding the USB input and ability to browse files on main screen and turning off the USB or server in standby.
The list is shrinking at least.

I set up 6 presets (love that feature), does anyone know how to access these beyond presets 1-4 with the remote ?

Thanks

Search Amazon for "light dimming sheets" and you will find these films.

Consider using this as a temporary solution after submitting a request ticket.

You can also paint the screen with a permanent marker if you haven't already removed the protective film from your Amp Ultra's screen. It may not look great, but it probably won't cost you a fortune. If you don't like it, simply wipe it off with alcohol.

Now, please paint me any colour you like 😄

I can live with for now (submitted a ticket). It just kind of lights up the room at night !
Others, if you want the same thing, also submit a ticket !

Amp Ultra looks good and promising but I'm strongly tempted by Eversolo. Only a little more expensive, and I have Apple Music support. This is something I really miss about WiiM Ultra / Amp Ultra I can also have it here by Bluetooth, but unfortunately without the covers of the songs played and in lower quality...

A footnote: The WiiM Amp Ultra is expected to support Roon Ready starting next month according to support

Hi guys, new user here. 🙋‍♂️

I got my WiiM Amp Ultra on Friday but I had bad luck getting a faulty unit. The left speaker output produces a lot of hissing noise regardless of the selected input. I tried connecting my right speaker to the left output resulting in the same hissing noise. So that unit will be sent back to Amazon on Monday. I ordered another one which I will get on Monday too (luckily because now they are out of Stock until July 21).

Since this is my first WiiM device I had the chance getting familiar with the App in the meantime over the weekend.

But what I can say already, it sounds amazing compared to my previous amp (Aiyima A80). I really like the possibilities finetuning the sound with the subwoofer settings and crossover for the main speakers and the EQ options. Can‘t wait to get the other one tomorrow (this time hopefully a non-faulty unit). 🙂
Got my second unit yesterday, but had no time to set it up until today. This one now works as supposed to, no hissing noises. Have a lot to play with the next days for fine tuning. :)

My speaker configuration I am running the WiiM Amp Ultra with:

2x Nubert nuBoxx B-70
1x Nubert nuSub XW-900

I just set the Crossover-frequency to 75 Hz initially and it sounds already great. Room correction, speaker/sub synchronization and playing with EQ to follow. I am happy now. :)

You probably need a higher gain rather than more power. Have you tried changing the pregain for the input you are using?

i am not expert... i use spotify
Pre-gain is available for Spotify, too, from within the WiiM Home app.

Don't hesitate to set the volume on the WiiM Amp to 80, 90 or even 100 if needed. It's designed and built to never ever reach clipping levels, no matter how hard you push it.

Pre-gain can be configured for sources lacking some volume per input from the Audio Input page. All streaming services (including Spotify) use the same setting, either called "Wi-Fi" or "Ethernet", depending on how you connect your Amp to your network.

The WiiM Amp Ultra does offer more power for sure. It also - unlike the WiiM Amp - features Post Filter Feedback (PFFB), which more or less eliminates the effect of speaker impedance varying with frequency. It also much better suits low impedance speakers. If all this is what you need to enjoy better sound from your speakers, nobody can tell you for sure.
