Audio Pro EU Availability?

According to the US Amazon site, it's $229 for the Wiim edition, and currently $229 ( - 8% - reduced from a "typical" $250), at the Audio Pro US Amazon store. You can get there by following the link on the WiiM "Shop"
So both appear to be going for the same price, currently.
This makes sense, as the "versions" are basically just two different versions of WiiM's firmware, aren't they?
The basic hardware is the same 😊
So if i understand you will you can cleary see the 2 different versions on the Amazon and Audiopro web page?
Ok and they are the same price..hardware is the same..WIIM version offers more( and important) possibilities and offer more support on the software side. There could be even more extra,s on the Wiim edition.
Why should you then choose the non Wiim version in the first place ??

"Why should you then choose the non Wiim version in the first place ??"

I've been wondering this since I started with these brands....

Here in Europe they are Selling the MK10 for 330 Euro,s.
So Imagine..the 2 different versions( Wiim version not available in the EU now)..side by side on any EU web store.
Same price 330 Euro..i would never choose the non WIIM version.
Even if the WIIM version would cost me 50 Euros more i would never choose the non Wiim version.

Yes (to the first question) and -
if you haven't got a WiiM device, you'd only need a 'regular' version, obviously.........
😊

Theoretically, all you need is a "regular" A10 MKII, with the relevant firmware on it.
But that cant be done..can it? Can the non Wiim version be updated to a WIIM version?
If it cant i really don,t understand why someone would go for the the 'regular'version,.

Does anyone have any technical data or an explanation as to why WiiM can't run on any Audio Pro speaker?

It's my understanding WiiM/Linkplay/Audi Pro app is all in the same bed together so what's the limitation? Seems like if they just put WiiM integration in all the speakers it could be beneficial to them.

I've noticed in my research of Audio Pro speakers a trend of very unenthusiastic customer support which is disappointing...
WiiM already said in the introductory thread that the hardware is different - whether that’s as basic as the presence of an eFuse/ chip or similar on the WiiM edition as well as different base firmware, who knows.

You can’t turn a blind eye to whatever licensing / marketing agreements might already be in place. By using Linkplay modules and Linkplay firmware, there might be cash flowing from one to another - for example, audio pro might be paying Linkplay for firmware updates they require, or they might do that in house. If Linkplay were to allow the WiiM firmware to run on all existing audio pro speakers, then they’d probably want recompensed for that and the ongoing support, but why would audio pro want to pay for that?

I think we need to accept that the speakers are indeed very similar, but different enough to be seen as two separate products.

Then one could say why could,nt it be important to Audiopro?
Cant they see the EQ and RC options are imporant? Or do they think it isn,t important to a custumer who is focused on quality_ be it hardware and sofware _ wants the best possible options for the best possible audio experience..
A slider for EQ is enough? No RC required.? I don,t think so.
Why can,t they see this..if WIIM can offer this, don,t they think they could profit overall included their customers ?
Couldn,t this be a win, win situation for WIIM and Audiopro?

I think having two "versions" will lead to confusion and expectations not met... Not everyone wants to sit around and research/tinker for hours on end, I did that and still found certain expectations not met...

In the end, I finally have everything working but not how I originally wanted. I'm hesitant to purchase any other Audio Pro speakers at this point but look forward to both product's hopefully improving.

New W-generation Audio Pro speakers bringing Wiim features across major markets from mid-September

So to sum up and so that I understand this. There are the following versions of say the AudioPro C10:
  1. AudioPro C10 (mk1) - no Wiim functionality
  2. AudioPro C10 MK2 - limited Wiim functionality? No (room)EQ, but it does show up in the Wiim-app so one can group it together with other Wiim products like an Ultra?
  3. AudioPro C10 MK2 Wiim Edition - Full Wiim functionality with all the room/eq/etc etc (but USA only)
  4. AudioPro C10 MK2 W - Full Wiim functionality?
If this list is incorrect: can somebody please make one that is accurate? These AudioPro speakers with all their versions are so confusing if one wants the integration with Wiim...

Up until the mention of the Audio Pro W series, I think it’s fair to say that most people would have assumed that WiiM devices could link to other Linkplay based devices in a Linkplay group, so in your list the mk1 and mk2 C10 would have fallen into that category (I think the mk2 just added voice control and maybe chromecast to the mk1).

The WiiM edition audio pro speakers are best thought of as WiiM devices, not audio pro, as they have WiiM firmware (I think of them like a WiiM Pro in a speaker box) and so have full WiiM functionality.

The marketing of the new Audio Pro W speakers seems to have stirred things up a bit between Audio Pro, WiiM and Linkplay. You could see the W series as in between the mk2 and WiiM edition versions - while they have many features of WiiM devices, they don’t have all of them and their firmware should be viewed as a fork with some WiiM-based features but managed and developed separately. The new audio pro app can control Audio Pro’s mk2 and W series (but not mk1), and while it can see WiiM devices on the network, it can’t control them at all. It remains to be seen whether (and to what degree) the WiiM app can see or control the W series speakers.

If you want full WiiM compatibility, get the WiiM Sound…

Thanks for the elaborate reply! So it seems that the C10 mk1 already can do some basic stuff.
My usecases are:
  1. Playing vinyl into a Wiim Ultra and streaming and syncing (multirooming) that to a speaker in another room
  2. Streaming and syncing (multirooming) Spotify-/TidalConnect/TuneIn-radio from the Ultra to a speaker in another room
  3. Streaming and syncing (multirooming) Spotify-/TidalConnect/TuneIn-radio from a speaker in another room to the Ultra
So even a basic AudioPro C10 would be able to be that "speaker in another room"?

Thanks, missed that thread somehow. The W series are looking more like WiiM Editions, even though the new Audio Pro app looks like it’s steadfastly ignoring that. I still suspect their firmware paths will at best run in parallel but won’t necessarily be identical.

I was also considering an A10 of the new W series. But the uncertain information of its compatibility with the WiiM eco-system and prolonged non-availability made me step down from this plan.

I am now even more convinced than before that that was the right decision. Even if the Audio Pro W series works with WiiM and LMS now there‘s no guarantee that this will still be the case in a year‘s time. So I might end up with a stand-alone Bluetooth speaker eventually.

I‘ll wait until the WiiM Sound speaker hits the shores of Europe.
