Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Plex

Good to see it added and I would have been more excited except Qobuz is killing it with the new features in the beta

The Plex integration in the Wiim Home App sometimes works, but a lot of times is very buggy and the search function oftentimes does not work.
Are there any news on the status of implementing Plex Endpoint Support/Plexamp Headless to the Firmware? That would be a nicer interaction for users as well as less hassle for wiim devs...
A good alternative solution would be to fix chromecast streaming via plexamp. right now it is not very stable and does not show artwork.

It's likely an incompatibility with PlexAmp and the latest Chromecast firmwares, as when tested with Symfonium everything worked as expected.
Given it's an external third-party interface I doubt there's anything WiiM can do to help resolve the problem.

Ah, that is good to know. I will post the issue in the plex forums then. Thanks. :)
Nonetheless it would be nice to hear from someone at wiim about the status of Plex Endpoint Support, since it was teased in the road map for the Ultra last year...

The search function is not exactly good for finding things but it’s great to randomly rediscover music one hasn’t listened to in forever. It always comes up with something but how it relates to the search is beyond me.

Yeah some progress report would be appreciated. And perhaps some kind of timeframe.
This year? 2026? Update on what is hindering.

And in the meantime we got YouTube Music support. Pretty much out of the blue.
Are you suggesting that WiiM should stop developing other services till they have Plexamp support? YouTube has been on the WiiM roadmap for a while, and the WiiM app already has some support for Plex. There are no doubt a lot of factors involved in implementing a new service such as the availability of a sufficiently richly featured API, and the willingness of the service partner - or more importantly the availability of their staff - to develop this new service with WiiM. As has been pointed out elsewhere, no doubt marketing will have a say in where development is focussed, but let’s think which service will potentially sell more WiiM devices and more subscriptions? I’ll leave that as a rhetorical question ;)

It may be simply my perception but there seem to be a lot of shiny new features none of which ever get fully implemented. There is always some glaringly obvious compromise somewhere in the launch version which is what annoys people. One wonders if there is any real world testing.

As far as I’m aware , the YTM interface was developed and tested by both WiiM and Google/YTM personnel.

An optimist might say “not fully implemented” can also mean “subject to continuous ongoing development “ ;)

Not at all, but it would be nice to keep us enthousiasts in the loop a bit :)

Also to gather feedback before dropping new features. To avoid what @d6jg seems to be referring to and what has happened with the Plex implemention as it currently stands.

So far no issues here with plex integration in the wiim home app. It always works.

How?! I‘m intrigued. What’s the size of your library? Do searches come up with everything that’s related to the search term? Does it show all available albums by an artist?

Compilation albums from an artist don't show up, I believe that is a Plex issue/setting that can be changed on your plex server. BUT if you search for an artist and then click on 'all' instead of 'albums' you will see the compilation albums/tracks are there too, so I just use that as a workaround. Library is about 20.000 tracks.
I only do quick searches for an artist and those work fine.

For a large library the only real way to navigate is to search. Still no jump list under Artists but there is for Albums
