Beta Test: Sound Profile

Is there a way I can be involved in this beta testing? I have at least one use case that is important to me and would be good to evaluate and provide feedback on it.
Under device info in the WiiM app, select “join beta testing” to see if that beta firmware is available for your device

Any idea when this beta firmware will be available for the amp ultra please?
I don't think so, as WiiM have responded back to the current beta test, that they will go back and think about the design.

The beta test version did not make much sense, although the device group handling was a nice feature to experience.

I find that this feature is working when switching to a 5.1 surround profile for the HDMI input, but does not deselect the surround speakers when switching back to either the optical or the line input. Either via manual switching or via auto sensing.

This is my first time beta testing. How should I report this?

Via the usual more/feedback section in the WiiM home app. I normally prefix the subject line with something like “Beta Sound Profile:” followed by a very short description like “surround speakers not deselected”. In the body of the ticket, put in as much detail as you can. Submitting a ticket will automatically send your device/app logs.

Hi @hgo58 ,

Thank you for your valuable feedback — it’s very helpful for us in shaping the Input Profiles feature.
+1 to this suggestion. I really want just two input profiles to cater for 2.0 Stereo playback and 5.1 playback - define these as separate profiles and apply them to the inputs selectively

i have created ticket

#548640 beta:sound profile

for the same issue reported here - it is not possible to un-group devices that were grouped with the preset grouping feature - nothing changes when selecting a profile with only a single device (single Ultra in my case).
grouping Ultra+Pro devices through a profile works good

Maybe I think thay need add 'Follow Current' to the device selection screen, though I'm not sure this will function correctly.

Currently, switching the input for the follower device allows the group link to be disconnected. This method may be acceptable for many users. (Users will need to carefully consider which device to designate as the leader.)

i tried changing input, the group remained the same:
optical input with Ultra+Pro , switched to Wifi input Ultra only profile, switch to optical input Ultra (only) profile - still have Ultra+Pro grouped

If Ultra is the group leader, try switching the input on the Pro.

1. Press the input switch button once on the Pro remote.
2. Press a preset button on the Pro (you must press a preset where only the Pro is selected).

By appointing Pro as leader, you can achieve the opposite.

no, i don't think so. i don't want to find the Pro's remote, change its input, and change its preset.
it's a bug on a beta firmware, which could probably be fixed

I merely asked whether it would work..🤷
FYI - it does. I'm in the same boat and have tried this.

My current workaround is to set the preset to include a device which I have muted. Inelegant and requires additional hardware, but I have a tolerance for the former and some of the latter.

Thank you for trying it out.
Good point, using mute is one workaround.
🙂

I haven't received a reply to my ticket.
I suspect this issue is not straightforward, but I'm hopeful that the team will devise a good solution.
