If we would give them a percentage what would it be in your situation? Was it atlist 30 percent improvement? Give us some number to give us insight.
I've tried a few different room correction methods. On a scale of 1-10 (with 2.5 or 3 being no correction at all in a crappy room):
DIRAC Live: 8.5
DSPeaker Anti-Mode 3.0 (X2/X2D): 7
WiiM RoomFit with a UMIK-1: 5
RoomFit with iPhone mic: 3.5
As would be the case with any room correction, you need to implement it correctly or it can easily make things worse. The above ratings are based on best possible results applied correctly. If I had to provide a second scale for what it does to your sound when applied incorrectly:
DIRAC Live: 1
DSpeaker Anti-Mode 3.0: 4
RoomFit with or without UMIK-1: 1
Basically saying that by far the most foolproof is the Anti-Mode. I guess if you place the mic wrong, that can throw it off, but honestly it is literally place the mic, press two buttons, done. Like many people of my generation, we are the, "IT Department," for our parents. My dad is the one who got me into music listening in the first place. He has a really hard time coming to terms with calibrating/tuning RoomFit. The Anti-Mode, on the other hand, took him all of 10 minutes to learn how to use.
DIRAC Live, implemented right, completely transforms the sound. Yes, you can definitely get more from your system with RoomFit than without it, but the limitations are there. It only corrects for frequency response, and does not recognize or deal with phase/time or impulse issues. Anti-Mode does look at phase. DIRAC Live adds impulse.
I tried to think of percentage rating instead of scale of 10 but if your room sucks, the percentages would be crazy high if you're in a crappy room and not very high in a well-treated, dedicated space.
