Ongoing Beta Beta Testing: Separate Room Correction and EQ (Available only on WiiM Ultra)

I’m looking forward to this feature set. A combination of peq for room correction with geq for personal preference.
It is already abailable :)

you just need to download the beta Wiim App > More > Firmware Updated > Scroll down to the button to agree on using Beta firmware. At the moment I see just one to choose from

I’m aware it’s available on beta just waiting to get release officially.

Well since I updated to the beta I see no graph when measuring with an UMIK instead of the pone's internal mic. So it seems related to the beta. Before splitting EQ and correction I was able to see a FR with the applied filters

It should look like this but does not apply as long as the Umic is plugged to the USB-C port

Did you send feedback through the WiiM Home app?

The graph you just attached is not a frequency response, though, but the filter parameters. These never showed up directly during the RC procedure. You had to tap the link below the FR.

So, is both missing, the FR and the link to the filter settings? I'm just asking because when you describe the issue to WiiM you might want to be as specific as possible. It might depend on the phone model and OS or even the microphone in use if they can directly reproduce the issue.

No problem on my Android phone.
Please try deleting the APP cache and restarting the phone.

It would be nice to have this Beta Firmware on the Amp Ultra as well. Or let's hope it doesn't take too long to get this into production. :)

It was promised for the original Amp months ago. Time frame was, you guessed it, one or two weeks ☹️
You been here in this forum for a long time. You know how things going when it comes to delivering updates. Many of them are missed on stated dates even after weeks have passed by. The updates are winding down because there’s hardly any new features that need to be added unlike in the early days of their product. Most of the features have already been released. Now, if they include diract live for those who want to purchase license would be good choice. Consumers like choices.

Hear here! If they allowed optional DIRAC, I could remove the miniDSP Flex from my chain entirely (right now it sits between my WiiM and everything else)!

I don’t mind paying extra for dirac if it’s something that will give me wow factor. You pretty much forget how much it cost if it’s going to make you happy.

My personal experience with it, comparing against WiiM RoomFit with a UMIK-1, is that it is worth the difference.

However, as frequently claimed, your mileage may vary. I don't have the luxury of a dedicated listening room or room treatments (not at least until my kids are bigger), so room correction is more important and makes a bigger difference for my listening, than it does for people who do have a dedicated and treated listening space.

If we would give them a percentage what would it be in your situation? Was it atlist 30 percent improvement? Give us some number to give us insight.

I've tried a few different room correction methods. On a scale of 1-10 (with 2.5 or 3 being no correction at all in a crappy room):
DIRAC Live: 8.5
DSPeaker Anti-Mode 3.0 (X2/X2D): 7
WiiM RoomFit with a UMIK-1: 5
RoomFit with iPhone mic: 3.5

As would be the case with any room correction, you need to implement it correctly or it can easily make things worse. The above ratings are based on best possible results applied correctly. If I had to provide a second scale for what it does to your sound when applied incorrectly:
DIRAC Live: 1
DSpeaker Anti-Mode 3.0: 4
RoomFit with or without UMIK-1: 1

Basically saying that by far the most foolproof is the Anti-Mode. I guess if you place the mic wrong, that can throw it off, but honestly it is literally place the mic, press two buttons, done. Like many people of my generation, we are the, "IT Department," for our parents. My dad is the one who got me into music listening in the first place. He has a really hard time coming to terms with calibrating/tuning RoomFit. The Anti-Mode, on the other hand, took him all of 10 minutes to learn how to use.

DIRAC Live, implemented right, completely transforms the sound. Yes, you can definitely get more from your system with RoomFit than without it, but the limitations are there. It only corrects for frequency response, and does not recognize or deal with phase/time or impulse issues. Anti-Mode does look at phase. DIRAC Live adds impulse.

I tried to think of percentage rating instead of scale of 10 but if your room sucks, the percentages would be crazy high if you're in a crappy room and not very high in a well-treated, dedicated space.
