so basically in reply to my own original question the answer despite multiple responses is 'no' and 'no' apart from @s3igell 's 'US' show suggestion which dosn't fulfil the critia of the question, but at least was relevant .. kind of :rolleyes:

As far as I can see WiiM don't call the Sound "wireless", at least not on their website and in their Amazon.com listing. :)

Customer reviews do use that term and the "wireless input" is specified. But yes, the sound does need two wires, indeed.
