EQ and Room Correction at the same time? (Wiim Amp Pro)

Hi,
This support article claims (in the section 'How Room Correction and EQ Work Together' at the bottom) that it is possible to use EQ and room correction together. But it doesn't seem to be the case, because what Room Correction does is it creates a preset for Parametric Equalizer and applies it. Now, if I select some preset in a normal equalizer (e.g, 'Rock' or 'R&B'), it will disable the parametric equalizer. If you go and re-enable it, this will disable the normal equalizer with whatever preset you just selected. So, how to use both EQ preset (such as 'Rock') and apply room correction on top of it?
Thanks.

Despite promises from WiiM this feature hasn't been released for any products apart from the Ultra and maybe the new Amp Ultra and is possibly still in beta for those.

See post in thread 'WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.721142 - Jun 25, 2025' https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/wiim-ultra-firmware-v5-2-721142-jun-25-2025.7509/post-133587

Will it be available for the Amps as well?
Yeah, I think the new functionality should become available for all devices for which it would make sense, certainly for the Amps. If Wiim Amp is used with an external device (e.g. music player connected via optical input), you mostly need Room Correction feature, as in this case EQ ideally should be configured on that device, but if you run one of those streaming services inside Wiim Amp, then you need both EQ and Room Correction. Today I found out that if I run Spotify on iPad or iPhone and connect it to Wiim Amp, it loses the equalizer which it normally has on iOS. Thus I started looking into how to get the equalizer functionality back (and keep room correction)..

That is because the iPad or iPhone is just a controller and the music are streaming directly to the WiiM from the Spotify service. This is contrary to using AirPlay where the streaming goes through the phone/pad and can use the device EQ.

I don’t believe that the EQ setting on an iPhone/iPad is applied to an airplay stream, just to audio played on the iDevice.

I just tested & can confirm this is the case.
I wanted to test that, too, but then realised that the Amp Pro which I have doesn't support AirPlay... 😊
I also tried changing connection mode in Spotify from 'Spotify Connect' to 'Google Cast'. Apparently in this case it should work similarly to how AirPlay does, that is, it just 'casts' from device to another device via local network rather than tells another device to stream from Spotify servers. In Wiim Home app, the 'Now Playing' (or whatever it's called) screen also looks somewhat different. But it does not help with equalizer at all: it is still required to be set in Wiim, and on the iPad the Playback menu section in Spotify app still gets disabled.

But the EQ (in Spotify, Apple Music, HF Player etc.) works and the settings do apply for audio stream via usb connection. I tested this before. So if you connect an iPhone/iPad to Wiim Amp via USB (through usb/optical convertor, for example), all is good. You just set EQ on the phone, and room correction on the Amp. Only when you connect wirelessly, you need to set both on the Amp which you can't currently.

Yeah, that’s because it’s not using airplay when physically connected, but I’d contest the point of using a streamer is to allow you to use your phone merely as a remote and not as a playing device connected by cables to something else.

Time for you to get ultra to get the latest update on any of their products. As more product being added many of their old device will see few updates and will be long time to be implemented. I remember before when ultra gets new features the rest of the line gets them in a week or so. I don’t see that happening like it use to be, Look at wiim mini hardly gets updated unlike before when it was their only device gets frequent update even after pro came to market.

Yes, it's 10 days already since the last WiiM Mini update. ;) And 2,5 months since the previous update. :D

If anything, WiiM really have shown commitment to continue supporting all their products released so far. I'm pretty sure that the missing feature of managing inputs in the WiiM Home app has been nothing but an oversight that will be corrected with the next firmware update. The original WiiM Amp is still a fabulous product. Even the hardware platform did receive updates like e.g the improved binding posts over time. So WiiM are not only supporting the software platform.

A replacement for the WiiM Amp would not be the WiiM Ultra, but the WiiM Amp Ultra. And while this is a really great replacement, it's certainly not necessary for everybody.

Do you want to go back to padawan? 😂

I run the rc and I keep getting the recorded sound quality is not optimal and lack certain frequency. I never seen this before. Using iPhone 16 as mic. Anyone knows how to fix this?
