Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Wiim Ultra:

May Setup:
• Streamer: Wiim Ultra
• DAC: Chord Qutest
• Cables: Chord BNC with Cardas (BNC to RCA adapter)

What works:
• Optical out from Wiim Ultra works perfectly with Qutest.

What doesn’t:
• Coaxial out gives no sound at all.
• Qutest shows no input signal (no color change on input button).
• Have double confirmed all software and hardware setup are correct on both Wiim and Qutest

What I’ve tried:
• Coax cable is fully inserted
• Qutest set to correct input
• Wiim App output set to PCM, 44.1/48kHz
• Latest firmware installed
• Audio source tested with Tidal, Spotify, internet radio

Looking for advice:
• Anyone experienced the same issue with Wiim Ultra’s coax out?
• Any setting I might be missing?

Thanks in advance for your help!

My WiiM Ultra is working fine via the COAX output set to 24-bit 192 kHz, and WiiM output set to Coax Out.

That may be a hardware or setup issue, but… doesn’t the DAC offer a USB input? I would use that instead.

What doesn’t:
• Coaxial out gives no sound at all.
• Qutest shows no input signal (no color change on input button).
• Have double!

I agree with @EddNog.

However, from the your photo it looks like the Coaxial cable is connected to the phono terminal on the Ultra. (Can't tell from the shot from above...)

Upon closer examination of your photo, I agree--it seems your BNC->RCA cable (presumably that's your coaxial S/PDIF interface) is connected into the wrong place on the back of your WiiM Ultra. Coax output is the RCA connector on the bottom row closest to the 12V trigger out.

You appear to have connected your DAC to the analog subwoofer output (second closest RCA port).

you should especially use a much simpler adapter... here it hardly makes sense and above all it does not guarantee you a good connection as this adapter is so massive...

I have tried this simple one. Still doesn’t work.

As checked, the port I connected should be correct.

I would say 2-3months ago, I used the same setup, everything was going perfectly.

As for my home interior renovation, I disassembled my entire system and reassembled it, and that’s when this issue started.

Please submit a ticket via the feedback section of the WiiM app. A device log will be sent to help resolve the issue.

If all settings and connections in the system are OK, it is possible that something went wrong somewhere during the renovation. However, please try these again in sequence.

  1. Reboot each device (disconnect power cable)
  2. Disconnect all cables and connect only the Coax cable
  3. Power on the WiiM Ultra
  4. Switch to Coax-out in the WiiM app
  5. Adjust the volume
  6. Make the necessary settings for the DAC as well
  7. Set the "Coax output resolution" to 16bit/44.1kHz and tap "Play test audio" button

If this does not play the test audio correctly, you can try a factory reset of the Ultra. (But it seems unlikely to resolve the problem...).

Hi Wiimer,

I have tried, problem is still unsolved.
I have submitted the feedback via Wiim App to see if there is any better solution.

Do you have any other devices on which you can test the Coax connection?
