How long to index audio files?

Just bought the Ultra to stream audio files from my Windows PC. I have downloaded the Wiim Home app onto the PC and selected to add one of the music folders containing 510gb of audio files. It has been 8 hours and It is still adding (indexing) that folder. It only took 4 minutes or so yesterday to add a 22gb folder.
Is that length of time normal or should I somehow stop it and restart?
The hard drive of that folder is not part of a NAS, it's just a simple disk of SATA storage.
I haven't been able to use my Wiim yet because of this process.
Is this length of time to index that quantity of data normal?

Well, after selecting "Enable UPnP...." and restarting Lyrion, it refuses to connect and open. So I did something wrong and can't use it now. I guess I am forced to use the Wimm Home app on my PC.

It is a steep learning curve I guess if you've never used it before. It will become easier.
I've never used a streamer nor a media server. Ever. This WIIm thing isn't enjoyable; it's a task and I don't need any more tasks. I just wanted something as easy as putting a CD into a player and hit 'Play." I can't afford to have someone come to configure my system, either.

If your are on a windows PC you should see
"Squeezebox Web Interface" in the Start Menu under "Lyrion Music Server. Try clicking on that. If it doesn't work it is possible that the server hasn't started so try restarting it by clicking on
"Start Lyrion Music Server (if not configured to run as a service)"

If you're looking for desktop only MusicBee is an option.

It relies on a plugin that's still in development, as such it's a little fragile with seeking and skipping tracks but I expect that to be improved shortly (as soon as I provide more feedback).

If you want to try it let me know and I'll put some very basic instructions together.

As said, music streaming of own music files can be a bit complicated as there are so many ways to do it. The FAQ should help you.

The WiiM is very simple if you want to stream from radio or music services on the Internet but for your own music you must set up your own service (server) or connect the file storage directly to the WiiM (Ultra).

Hang on, you can actually configure LMS? That means it's installed and you've opened up the browser ok, you're half way there.

It should find the Wiim device, UPNP isn't needed, but it does help if you are planning on using other audio streamers.

The wiim player should display like in post 43. If you can see that, then all you need is LMS APK on your phone, or click on the device then you can select albums

I want to be able to select music from my phone so i don't have to go back to the PC to change music. Thanks though.

Lyrion "was" installed but when I restarted it after enabling the upnp thing, Lyrion would not open so I uninstalled it.
What is APK? Is that something else I have to install? If so, where? Phone ans PC?

Possible that upnp plugin broke LMS. It's only needed if you have generic UPNP devices where you want to stream to, ie TV's, AVR's etc. Leave it off for now.

APK is a application you install on mobile phones, if you have android phone install this

You don't install it on your PC, as you control your streamers via LMS in internet browser, you've already done this because you can setup LMS

Just saw this post. I will install that link and will have to reinstall Lyrion on my computer later. When I did have Lyrion in my PC, I search all over it and didn't see anything listing my Ultra. I didn't see any place for "devices" or such.

All of you probably use this stuff 24/7 , have for years, and know it like the back of your hand. Not everyone has that luxury. For a lot of people its new and confusing. I have had to use loads of patience when I taught people things that were completely alien to them. All I'm asking is for the same thing.
