Introducing the WiiM Edition of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII

Can you link multiple Wiim A10 and C10 speakers into a group and have them all play in sync? What is the sample rate when doing that? That is the magic needed to replace Sonos.

How do the A10 and C10 sound compared to the Sonos Era 100 and 300, the obvious competition? Any experience?
Hi DTC

Yes, you can link multiple Audio Pro MkII speakers in to a group and have them all play in sync like Sonos. I have five different Audio Pro MKII speakers and they can all be grouped like that.

They don’t (yet) have all the group smartness/options like Sonos but I think that is only a matter of time…

Thanks for jumping in. This is correct (the first part, I can't confirm the second :);) )!
That's one of my questions too..
Can you if you have the Wiim amp ,connect one of the audio pro wiim edition speakers to the app at the same time and play them at the same time?
If you watch a movie will there be any delay?
I think it would be nice to place the speaker at the back of my room when watching a movie.
Inputs like HDMI and Optical have be optimized for TV playback in order to not have any lip sync issues. This means grouping them with other speakers can have a delay between the two since the audio will play as soon as it comes in for the WiiM Amp, but the audio getting sent to the grouped devices takes a few milliseconds to transmit and then get converted to audio. This is pretty standard across smart speakers.

Thanks very much again for your explanation Ryan☺️☺️👌👍

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your reply.

As to the functionality differences I have so far discovered two differences:

1. If you start playing a source in speaker #1 and you make a group you can’t terminate the group with transferring the source from speaker #1 to for example speaker #3.

2. I have two C10 MKII’s paired as left and right speaker. I can’t add a speaker to this pair to play synchronously. (I might be able to do it in reverse order).

So group functionality is not yet on par with for example Sonos or Bluesound, but I’m sure this will be sorted down the road….

Seems rather optimistic to me.
A few millisecs wouldn't give any lip sync delay. As soon as I group my wiims, watching tv via hdmi or optical becomes unbearable, easily 0.5 secs delay.
To clarify, hdmi or optical to a non-grouped wiim is not an issue at all.

You can group multiple A10/C10 and all other WiiM products.

Yes. I wanted to echo this here.
Coming to the Linkplay world from Sonos, these are a few of the seemingly small, but fundamentally important issues that I hope are resolved reasonably soon. My usage is pretty much whole-house music, usually background, sometimes focused listening, and it's important that WiiM (and the Linkplay universe in general) support the following:

1. Freedom to group and ungroup without being slaved to the device where the playback started.
2. Persistent L/R stereo pair groups that appear as a single device that can then be grouped/ungrouped as above.
3. Last but not least a more realized playback queue that can be edited and, shuffle play that is not limited to just a few hundred tracks.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll pass them along to the team so they know folks are asking.

1. (For some services) and 2. should be coming under the persistent group feature that’s currently in beta

A quick question.

My WiiM Ultra has a USB drive attached. My WiiM Mini can see it, and play the music on it.

Will these speakers be able to do the same; to see the USB attached to the Ultra?

Many thanks.
Hi Steve, Team

Yes. The WiiM edition speakers work precisely the same as your other WiiM devices. Thanks!

Would it be possible to connect for instance the C10MKII with an ethernet cable? If one uses a usb ethernet adapter?

While there seems to be a “service” port on the back, I’d doubt it could be used as you describe. If WiFi is an issue, perhaps you could consider a small WiFi extender like the TP-Link TL-WR802N
Thanks for your reply 😊👍
No wifi is no issue, i just was wondering if there would be possibility to choose for a wired connection via USB ethernet adapter.

Think of the WiiM Edition speakers as a WiiM streamer with onboard speakers. Sort of like an Amazon Echo with WiiM firmware but without a mic or Alexa, somewhat disappointingly :(
