Spotify Premium has officially started rolling out Lossless Audio, delivering studio-quality sound to music lovers across the globe. And for WiiM users, Spotify’s new high-fidelity streaming is fully compatible with WiiM devices through Spotify Connect. When Lossless Audio on Spotify rolls out to your Premium account, you'll be able to play it on your WiiM devices.

With support for up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, Spotify Premium now offers richer, more detailed playback across nearly every track in its catalog. Whether you're rediscovering old favorites or diving into new releases, the listening experience is elevated to a whole new level.

WiiM users can enjoy seamless integration via Spotify Connect, just enable Lossless in your Spotify app settings and let your WiiM device do the rest.

Ready to hear the difference?

Read Spotify’s official announcement and start streaming in Lossless today. Check out this video courtesy of Spotify:

Will there be any indication in the WiiM Home app that your WiiM device is actually receiving a lossless stream or are Spotify Connect’s UI guidelines still preventing that?

I'll check in with the team if that'll be possible, I'm not certain at this time.

@RyanWithWiiM - You mention a couple times about lossless via Spotify Connect. Does that mean that if one were to use the WiiM app directly to play Spotify it wouldn’t be lossless via that path? I’m inferring from your verbiage that it will only be lossless if using Spotify Connect, but not sure if that was what you meant to imply.

We can't play Spotify directly on the WiiM app. Even if you preset playback, it is actually played by Spotify Connect 🙂

As above, there’s no way to play Spotify from the WiiM app - all that’s there is a shortcut to the Spotify app which then uses Spotify Connect. It’s always been that way - indeed, I don’t think you’ll find too many instances where a third party has implemented a Spotify interface given that Spotify push very hard for the use of Connect.

I live in Poland and as I can see, we don't have this option here yet.

I wonder when it will appear.

Has anyone got this update yet? If so what is the version number? Updated today to version ending 116, but no lossless!😕

Presumably the Spotify app update is irrelevant. My app has not been updated yet, but already has lossless.

Thanks Wïïmer, your app is clearly 10 better than mine!🤗 I'll just have to wait.

A lossless 24bit/44.1kHz playlist was found on Spotify.

Have fun!

I’m trying this out with my ultra on the latest firmware and the latest Spotify iOS app version. When using Spotify Connect to the Ultra the display still shows 320kbps | 16bit | 44.1kHz. When listening on my iPhone the Spotify app clearly shows lossless.

Is this just a display bug or is lossless via Spotify Connect on the Wiim Ultra not working yet ?

I think this means Spotify hasn't rolled out the feature to you yet - me either. I believe we're supposed to get a notification in the app when it's available to us. Once you have it, the media quality will show the lossless option like below.

Have you set the ultra to support lossless as per this Spotify screen? I believe you need to set it per device.

Ahh, you're right, sorry.
FWIW, I've seen a post elsewhere that someone rebooted their phone (don't recall whether it was iphone or android) and spotify lossless started working on the Ultra.
