Spotify Premium has officially started rolling out Lossless Audio, delivering studio-quality sound to music lovers across the globe. And for WiiM users, Spotify’s new high-fidelity streaming is fully compatible with WiiM devices through Spotify Connect. When Lossless Audio on Spotify rolls out to your Premium account, you'll be able to play it on your WiiM devices.

With support for up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, Spotify Premium now offers richer, more detailed playback across nearly every track in its catalog. Whether you're rediscovering old favorites or diving into new releases, the listening experience is elevated to a whole new level.

WiiM users can enjoy seamless integration via Spotify Connect, just enable Lossless in your Spotify app settings and let your WiiM device do the rest.

Ready to hear the difference?

I'm testing Spotify now (I currently have Tidal). Unfortuately, Spotify doesn't have Atmos (I have two music rooms - one stereo/WiiM and one multichannel) so I will probably keep Tidal. I also took a pass on Amazon, Apple due to the difficulty in streaming from my Mac desktop to the WiiM.

I don't use the Atmos feature often, so maybe I'll take a deeper look.

I wasn’t aware of its existence but just tried it out. It does not work via connect. Seems to run locally on the phone app so via Bluetooth or AirPlay it works but not via Spotify connect
I can confirm this…

The bitrate is no longer displayed on the Amp Ultra screen.

The WHA now displays a 'lossless' indicator.

This is better, but it would be more better if the screen also displayed a lossless indicator 🙂

At least it’s now consistent with what it did before. However, we’ll no doubt get complaints as to why it no longer displays the (incorrect) 700kbps bitrate…

unfortunately when I try to play Spotify Connect through my Wiim Pro, I get the message that this device is not compatible with lossless audio

As advised elsewhere in the forum, make sure your WiiM device is on the latest non-beta firmware, clear the Spotify app cache (or delete/re-install the app on iOS), power down the WiiM, wait a few minutes then power it back up. That has resolved that issue for a good few users today :)

Sorted. Thank you so much 🙂

Ok, I got the lossless going for my wiim amp now. But I have seen on my phone, that not all music is provided in lossless audio quality, and some songs didn't have the "lossless" tag under the playback indicator. But while playing via the Wiim the lossless tag is shown behind the Wiim symbol, as long as the setting is set to lossless, regardless of the song that's playing... So if I want to see if the song is actually lossless, I need to disconnect the Wiim, see on the smartphone, and then change to the Wiim again.

Here it is too. Spotify Lossless arrived fully installed today, but the bitrate display has disappeared:mad:

The reasons for this have already been explained by @Burnside. This is the best the WiiM team can do right now.

I read something about a desktop app and a mobile app.
Can't Ultra and Amp Ultra display the actual data rates they're currently providing?

The bit depth and sample rate can be displayed, but the bit rate is misleading as a fixed 700 kbps was displayed. I think that is why the Team has hidden them all. It is not known if this will be improved in the future..(I guess that's up to Spotify)
