Thats true, and probably have less electrical noise to. If one can avoid ground loops, that is…

Battery power supply with an extra 5V linear regulator for the SSD is the only solution to be sure, but terrible unpractical so, - we have to live with it..

I recommend using WiFi. Completely without cables and the ex-Fart arrives quite safely through the atmosphere. The frequency will depend on what we've ate the night before.
