Thats true, and probably have less electrical noise to. If one can avoid ground loops, that is…An HDD with it's own power supply would take even less current from the USB than a SSD.
And all the noise from the external PSU could make it to the USB Port.An HDD with it's own power supply would take even less current from the USB than a SSD.
Battery power supply with an extra 5V linear regulator for the SSD is the only solution to be sure, but terrible unpractical so, - we have to live with it.And all the noise from the external PSU could make it to the USB Port.
There's no escape.![]()
Since this is not an April Fools joke, all I have to say is the statement above disqualifies ANYTHING else you claim toThe search for the most musical sound goes on.. latest is using a SSD as music storage .
A Kingston XS1000R 2TB, using exFAT.
The sound is slightly better this way than using my former Toshiba HDD .
Formating the SSD and HDD to exFAT sounds slightly better to my ears than using NTFS , another thing hard to explain .
I second what you have just said, it has to be a wind up surely? As Victor Meldrew said on many occasions, "I don't believe it". At least it made me laugh whilst my wife was watching Coronation St on ITVX.Since this is not an April Fools joke, all I have to say is the statement above disqualifies ANYTHING else you claim to
"hear". I mean, enough is enough with the snake oil and imagination running rampant.
Let's keep it real, people!
PS I still hope you are just doing this to have fun trolling people and you dont REALLY believe that.
This is why I have connected the Ultra directly to my Magnat RV2 tube amp. Does this qualify?the next step is the use of a tube output stage
Well yes, of course ;-)This is why I have connected the Ultra directly to my Magnat RV2 tube amp. Does this qualify?
The Kingston xs1000 SSD needs only 0,240A when reading. My Toshiba HDD is spec needing 1,5A max. The ultra can give 1,7A max. It’s near specification limits.An HDD with it's own power supply would take even less current from the USB than a SSD.
**Confirmation Bias** (or **Confirmation of One's Own Position**) is a cognitive distortion where a person seeks and interprets information in a way that confirms their existing beliefs or conclusions, even if they are incorrect.The Kingston xs1000 SSD needs only 0,240A when reading. This may strain the usb regulator inside the ultra holding 5V.
Maybe a clue why there are audible differences…
AI in work?**Confirmation Bias** (or **Confirmation of One's Own Position**) is a cognitive distortion where a person seeks and interprets information in a way that confirms their existing beliefs or conclusions, even if they are incorrect.
Key characteristics:
* Actively seeking information that supports one's own point of view
* Ignoring or devaluing contradictory evidence
* Interpreting neutral information in favor of one's position
* Forming a belief before collecting all the facts
**Examples**:
* An investor who has lost money on stocks continues to look for signs of company growth, ignoring negative news
* A person who is convinced of the effectiveness of a particular treatment method finds only positive reviews
* A political activist who sees only the shortcomings of the opposing side
This phenomenon is closely related to **motivational bias**, when emotional involvement in a particular idea interferes with the objective analysis of information.
To counter this bias, you can:
* Actively seek contradictory information
* Critically analyze all available data
* Involve outside experts to assess the situation
* Use structured decision-making methods
Yes. It's more convenient to express my thoughts this wayAI in work?
You would think is THAT simple but somehow the believers find a way to keep believing in spite of ZERO evidence, Zero blind tests to prove their claims...only on pure faith and imagination. It really boggles the mind lolThis exFAat vs NTFS talk is some of the dumbest audiophile hocus pocus I’ve ever heard, and that’s really saying something. Almost makes the ferrite choke on the power cable claims seem plausible.
Get a grip. If you did every pixie dust mod possible to the Ultra and ABX’d it against a stock unit, the only two outcomes are a statistical draw or a preference for the perfectly performant stock unit.
The beauty of the modern audio age is we don’t have to pretend to be alchemists anymore, and we have the data to prove it’s a waste of time and money.
not Thorens but Ariston ;-)I like Linn. How can one dislike a company that came into existence by copying a Thorens?
