..... new amp for ultra

Probably not a big enough benefit or difference that you could consistently pick each amp out in a level-matched, blind A/B comparison.

Thanks for the reality check. That's the thick end of 1k saved. I love the sound I am getting from the WiimAmp now I have it dialled in. It's human nature to always want more!

The room correction feature on these WiiMs can be a bit of an equalizer there (pun indeed intended).

Yes. I use correction. Reviewers say the amplifier section of the WiimAmp is only adequate, I do wonder if they bother to dial in all the features that the unit offers and whether then they would be more impressed.

Clearly they think it is too cheap to be more than adequate 🤣. That is how the Hifi industry works.
Yeah, well these results say otherwise; this amplifier is more than fine:

I have become very cynical of the industry. It seems to be awash in products that simply do not deliver what they promise and reviewers collude in that. Wiim seems to be a much needed market disrupter. Thanks for your insight.

ASR and Erin's Corner are the only review sites I take seriously these days. I doubt my old ears are going to benefit from upgrading from the original though.

IMG_8395.pngThose IOM units and the othe other similar ones look like great units. But don't see them available in the US market? Maybe that's coming?
Hi,
You can buy the amp and it will work with 110V. It’s a 230V/115V auto switching power supply. It will automatically switch to whatever line current is coming out of the wall. You’ll probably have to buy a proper power cord, but you can get that from Amazon or Monoprice. It looks like a really nice class D amp with a Wiim Ultra form factor which is cool. It’s a reasonable price of $470 USD for what you get. I’ve been looking at Audiophonics AP310-P250NC and the DIY/CLASSD amps. There are a number of options available now. You can get a pretty nice setup with the Ultra, IOM amp, bookshelf speakers for about $1000. Even less if you already have speakers. I’ve been looking at streamers for a while and I’ve decided to buy the Ultra to upgrade my roon endpoint from a raspberry pi/hifi berry amp. 🙂

Just got the tracking code for my IOM Ultra with dual inputs this morning; ETA Monday, 1/6.

Have you got a link to the review? I had a quick look and couldn't find it.
Their review is from an older/previous implementation in a smaller case. I don’t think this amp will get the same results under the same test conditions (not saying if it would be better or worse—just not the same).

That was also years ago, so Sipko has likely improved his assembly practices since then.

Here ya go. I mean it is recommended. But with reservations...
Apologies. Just realised this is not the IOM Ultra. Although it appears to have the same case.

I'm not sure that this is actually the IOM Ultra but looks to have very similar spec.
