..... new amp for ultra

Yep, I don't have any problem with that - it's fine that there is a cable and i don't have to search one to utilize the gear, and it's enough to connect vertically or horizontally.

I was just addressing the @Pikouchou post, but forgot to quote that :)

Btw, IOM Ultra as today is out of stock...
That was fast ;-)

Both should work.
I'm currently listening to music so won't check what was sent with IOM Ultra ;-)
But you can check by yourself

Looks nice. Seems quite powerful @ 2x450w.

How are you finding its performance?

Do you know if it's compatible with other WiiM streamers as well?
Hi,

Performance for me is very good, i had a Yamaha RX-V6 before. My living room is about 40 square meters
and i play with four speakers (2x 4 Ohm and 2x 8 Ohm) without any problems.
Although it is specially desigend for the Ultra my guess is it's compatible with other streamers.

Personally, I'd rather have the Wiim Ultra in a utilitarian, heavy duty black aluminum case with solid connectors in the back to match my Buckeye NC252...

Don't think this will receive much following as a more expensive option but just ordered Apollon Audio Hypex Nilai monoblocks.

Yes more expensive but wanted to get something where I would less quickly feel an itch for upgrading. Rather emotional reasoning, but with the speed those improved chip amps like fosi v3 etc come out I might quickly feel there is again something newer.

Decided on the Nilai after hearing a test YouTube video on purifi vs nilai vs icepower. Not sure if the video is rigged, the test setup was incorrect or whatever but was truly shocked on hearing the difference in handling a complex passage...

YouTube if interested
Not rigged but fundamentally flawed and therefore any conclusions (whether made by the presenters or viewers) are void.
The test was sighted. The levels weren’t matched.
Everything you need to know about controlled audio testing can be seen in this video.

Just to clarify, are you stating that once level matched, the performance of Fosi V3 Mono, original Hypex nCore, and the latest Hypex Nilai are all so high above transparency that they should not be distinguishable from each other?

Assuming all are working with it their normal range and that you are testing for difference, not preference, and you are doing this blind then it is very likely you won’t be able reliably tell them apart.

You listened to all of them yourself? Not saying you aren't possibly correct..

I haven’t listened to them. If I were to I think I would hear some subtle differences as I have in the past when changing amplifiers in my system. It’s when you remove bias and other senses that realise our hearing/mind plays tricks on us.
It’s worth watching or reading Floyd Toole on this subject or spending some time over at the Audio Science Review forums to find out more.

Prefer to keep my mind open for both the light and dark side and believe the truth is probably somewhere in the middle 😂.

Agree chasing minimal gains which you might think to hear are a clear example of non worthwhile diminishing return. But each his own hobby and experience.

If you have the money for it then the Nilai is a solid choice. It is a well measuring state of the art Class D amp as you probably already know:

You can get worse measuring amps for much more money. But you can not get better measuring amps for much less money. I guess the Topping LA90D might be better measuring but has much less power.
