..... new amp for ultra

No harm done! Thanks for sharing :)

I still find it a bit odd looking: by exactly following the Ultra's dimensions it's unnecessary tall for the amplifier board sitting inside. And why the glossy black surrounding... Just a plain metal box - color matched to the WiiM's aluminum enclosure would've looked a lot better. And lower height, but with the same footprint so it could be stacked on top of or below the Ultra, looking more like an extension rather than two Ultra's stacked on top of each other.

I've said it before, but I still prefer the more utilitarian look and compact size of the Audiophonics offerings, which are technically the exact same amplifiers for less $

Yeah, thanks, didn't think I was posting anything unwelcome or redundant for the communiuty.

I checked out the Audiophonics website, I'm seeing power amps with same Hypex modules on Black Friday sale for slightly more than what IOM is offering.

The IOM website is showing prices excl VAT ;)

IOM Ultra with NC250MP = €449 excl
Audiophonics with NC250MP = €399,17 excl

Just saw an update: No Space Grey available at the moment, apparently they're not able to match that color properly, so it's for the silver havers only unfortunately.

As if that was that easy to match the original "colour". :)

The only option so far is the amplifier module. They do provide pictures of the amp below a silver and a space gray WiiM Ultra for a reason. And that's probably the reason why they went with the gloss black surface in the first place: To somehow match both variants of the Ultra.

Not really a power amp with Bluetooth, time controls, remote, another display ... all that stuff you don't really need if you own an Ultra.

And not even featuring PFFB. I'm not impressed.
Apparently it does PFFB :)

But compared to the NCore and 3E options, the price seems too good to be true maybe? Or am I missing something?

It's not apparent to me. Where did you find this info?
Apparently it's not being mentioned on the Amazon page, but it has already been confirmed by Ayima directly.

Could you explain PFFB in a nutshell? :)

Don't think this will receive much following as a more expensive option but just ordered Apollon Audio Hypex Nilai monoblocks.

Yes more expensive but wanted to get something where I would less quickly feel an itch for upgrading. Rather emotional reasoning, but with the speed those improved chip amps like fosi v3 etc come out I might quickly feel there is again something newer.

Decided on the Nilai after hearing a test YouTube video on purifi vs nilai vs icepower. Not sure if the video is rigged, the test setup was incorrect or whatever but was truly shocked on hearing the difference in handling a complex passage...

I have had an Ultra for two weeks now and was also searching for a suitable amplifier. It turns out that here in the Netherlands a company had the idea to make a suitable amplifier for the Ultra and it was introduced last week. I ordered it immediately and expect to receive it at the end of this week.

Very interesting . I have an audiophonics hypex ncore 125 power amp and you can do a gain modification desoldering two resistors to lower the gain 13 dB.
This can probably be done in those IOM Ultra power amps. The ncore 250 and 125 are very good sounding modules.

But…. The best sounding power amp to use with my ultra is a DIY tpa3255 based amplifier I have modified with better components , better sounding to my ears than hypex ncore 125. It cost about 140 dollars to build.
