New Wiim of my dreams :)

I dream of a new version of a small player similar to the Wiim Pro, but with some more "audiophile" features. It could be a pure transport without a DAC. It would have femto oscillators, galvanic isolation for a good USB output, a small basic display (here "borrowed" from Denon, simple and functional - a monochrome OLED, no need to show the covers). It could also have a slot for M.2 drives, which are very small and easy to implement in such a device. It would be a killer among similar devices :)

Screens showing cover art are becoming the de facto format for audio streamers. Your device looks outdated already 😁

I simply couldn't go back to that type of screen anymore
I don't need the album cover, though — not much of it is visible even on the larger Eversolo screen. I'd like to have just the basic information in a readable version: title, time (also in a time-bar format), volume, and maybe bitrate. I've always loved simple displays like the Denon's; I don't need anything more, and I don't mind that they're outdated. I still miss such an optimal display in the Wiim Ultra; I made a graphical suggestion in another thread. It's been improved somewhat, but the Wiim display remains rather inefficient, as if it were intended for a desktop device. Meanwhile, many users have it in their hi-fi system and usually view it from a distance of 2-3 meters.Display2.jpg

I think you would like the displays of Linn devices too. 😉

Years ago, Sonos had a brilliant controller (with stand)

Somehow they got the size & format just right (unlike smartphones which are too narrow & elongated, and tablets which are unwieldly slabs). The interface was elegant. It was a pleasure to use.

Sadly, this cr200 was too expensive, suffered from a component defect & ultimately was killed off by the infamous Sonos app update (which almost killed the company).

I suspect these newer android based displays could promote endless twiddling & musical doom scrolling rather than providing an ergonomically designed experience for the user 🤔

When people say the screen is insufficient. For me where I sit in my flat it's very visible even though it's not on my desk. I like album artwork because wrongly or rightly it makes me feel more in touch with my music and not that I am just using a streaming machine. Although I have CDs and vinyl. I get totally if that not what you need and want. But I simply can go backwards.

Do that without screen - less noise.
