Oops. Have I just rejected WiiM?

Hi All. I've just spent a while in these pages (especially the "No artist or album listings..." kerfuffle on the app/UPnP/DLNA/LMS search question) and I'm now doubting why I should buy a WiiM Amp Pro for my living room listening. I'm using some cheap kit at the moment (Tangent Ampster II, Soundkey RCA line in from NUC) and although quite adequate, spare cash always wants to find a home in the search for 'better' sound. My argument in this has reached the stage:-

Pros:
1. The equaliser on the app - make voice the TV target with music a backup mode. I don't need movie modes since I have a HT setup in the attic.
2. The auto-sensing of input (although I only have one source, switching using a remote every day is annoying).
3. Better sound? - well, people do say.

Cons:
1. The extra dimension/confusion of software when I have a Kodi/LMS/Squeezelite/UPnP universe, thank you very much.
2. I could just get an amp that does one job without the software intrusion.

It's an interesting dilemma, but I only have so long on this planet to consider the choice.

Cheers

(BTW, for those interested, I've just switched from Domoticz (dead RockPi4) to Home Assistant and it's discovery of UPnP sources made Kodi usable as a client for LMS. I haven't bothered re-installing a Squeezelite player on the NUC. Which is nice.)

I already have an ample sufficiency of squeezelite clients. My point is, one more adds nothing.

Either I’m not getting your question, or you’re not getting my answer. All I was suggesting was that a WiiM Amp Pro would slot easily into your existing setup. Whether it’s a good replacement for your existing cheap kit, only you can ultimately decide

You would also gain room correction etc. I replaced my Squeezebox Touch and Pi based player with a WiiM Amp mainly because of the bass management feature.

Personally I prefer external boxes audio/video streamers to my amp but I guess Wiim Amp Pro is good enough for a bedroom system.

If you already have a stereo pre amp/integrated then I wouldn't replace it, just buy a Pro Plus or Ultra.

I assumed the correction was via a phone's mic and the EQ settings in the app, which I've already mentioned. Thanks. I've now made my mind up about how WiiM will operate in my environment.

The WiiM home app is for configuration, room measurement via your phone’s internal or an external mic, and control. The actual EQ values etc are stored in and used by the WiiM device itself.
