My current setup for my Wiim is primarily for headphone use (thanks neighbours) I can currently achieve sound from my tv via optical to my Wiim Ultra, but when I want to use a device connected through my soundbar to eARC on the TV the audio just plays through the soundbar. Currently I have my apple tv and Panasonic 820 4k player through there. Is there any adaptor that will work to get this working? Chat gpt seems to indicate a FeinTech VAX01202 HDMI eARC Audio extractor and splitter would work, but just making sure before purchasing anything. I can unplug the devices from the sound bar and plug them directly in to the TV but I would prefer not doing that as its a pain to unplug and input them all the time

Note that Ultra is not eARC-compatible.

Yes I understand that, but was running the sound through optical from the TV into the Wiim

A) Do you connect the ARC jack on the TV to the input on the FeinTech VAX01202, OUT 1 to the WiiM and OUT 2 to the soundbar?

B) Or do you connect OUT 1 to the soundbar and OUT 2 to the WiiM?

I don't know if (A) works correctly, but (B) does not. (HDMI on Ultra is not an input.)

Using an HDMI Audio Extractor to separate the ARC input into ARC OUT and Toslink, and connecting the Toslink to the Ultra may be a safe option.

But why would you want to listen to sound from the soundbar and the WiiM at the same time?

I want to listen to audio through my 4k bluray and my Apple 4k TV ( I know the max bit rate for this will be 24 48 khz but is fine until i updrade) through headphones through WiiM ultra which will connect to my DAC and headphone amp. Currently my Panasonic 820 and apple TV are connected directly to my soundbar which I want those to remain there for watching movies and tv shows through the soundbar, but when I want to listen to Hi res music I would like to be able to listen through headphones.
My TV is also limited to 16 bit 48khz via optical to the Wiim which I have just discovered

Sorry, I missed your post about headphones.

Do you mean that the TV and soundbar are connected via the ARC terminal? If so, I think this connection method will not work, as OUT 2 of the VAX01202 must be connected to Ultra.
