Unfortunately WiiM doesn't react on tickets from inside their app anymore, so I try it here:

As the thread title says, long album titles on Home Music Shares are not shown completely, which makes it really hard often to distinguish different album version. The album title is just cut off at the end of the line instead of continuing in another line.

You might say, this is a rare problem, but I have to say it is not. I have quite a large collection and often various releases of the same album. It is a problem I face basically every day.

The Foobar2000 app is a good example of how to make it better. I have added 2 screenshots of the view in the WiiM app compared to how it looks in Foobar2000.

I would really appreciate if WiiM concentrated on making the app how it is work flawlessly, instead of adding new features all the time.

Amazed how many people are so defensive of Wiim! All they have to do is give the same functionality as virtually every other music app on the planet!

If virtually every other music app on the planet does it right, why don't you use it? Nobody forces you to use the WiiM Home app except for setting up and configuring your device. I really mean it. When playing music from your own home music share you have all the options.

Some people bother about this topic, others do not. This has nothing to do with being defensive of WiiM.

I did upvote this feature request because, why not? I just don't see a reason fro bashing WiiM here because in my own experience the correct (?) display of infinitely long titles is neither trivial nor the norm.

The effort you have put into replying rather proves my point!

I am not bashing Wiim - just supporting other peoples call for a simple update. And we are not talking about "infinitely long titles". I believe it truncates them after 22 characters. Just scrolling through my list of music, the majority are longer than that.

I bought the Wiim because I just wanted a fit and forget setup with the device and matching app - I'm not technically minded at all.

As far as I'm aware, there aren't many options for other apps that can be used with the Wiim. I really would appreciate if someone could point me to something even a numpty like me could use. I paid up for the mconnect app but it is flakey as heck, constantly dropping the connection. Foobar is unbelievably complex.

I just use the wiim app to setup the device, run room EQ etc.

For my music playback I use LMS app on the phone, or use it through IP control.
Picoreplayer installed on my pi5.
LMS installed ontop of picoreplayer

Works really well.

I have noticed this.

I don't think the problem is with tags particularly. The issue is that you really don't need a very long album title to fill the space. And this isn't just albums, it's everything - in Folder View it's at every level.

We've been using Pepper as an example, the first three tracks are Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, none of which fit on the screen. It's not until you get to Getting Better that you can see the full title. Of the 13 tracks on this most classic of LPs, only seven titles can be read in full, wthe other six disappearing into "..."land.

Of The Beatles singles there's not enough room to fully identify I Want to Hold Your Hand, We Can Work it Out/Day Tripper (even without the second track), Yellow Submarine/Eleanor Rigby or The Ballad of John and Yoko.

Not a deal-breaker, but a tad annoying.

And yes, if you have multiple versions of albums, it's traditional to denote which is which at the end of the album title, which is the bit that's missing: examples (Original Version), (2005 Remix), (Collector's Edition), and (Live at Abbey Road). Lots of '60s albums have stereo and mono versions, that can get lost off the end.

So for U2 , if all I had was one The Unforgettable Fire album, that fits. But introduce a boxed set version, and their single of the same name, and you're stuck. Depeche Mode - The Singles 81>85, Depeche Mode - The Singles 86>98 Disc 1 and Depeche Mode - The Singles 86>898 Disc 2 are similarly indistinguishable at first glance. And don't get me started on how many versions/mixes of U2's Two Hearts Beat as One there are. File under 'quite a lot'.

Absolutely nothing to add here. Thanks. 👍 Some people will still refuse to understand.

Hi hgo58, team

Thank you for your feedback on the recent updates—it’s well received and appreciated!

We’re currently prioritizing the integration of several Beta test features, and some of the issues you mentioned are already being addressed in the upcoming releases.

Stay tuned—more improvements are on the way!
That's outstanding. As someone who has a ton of titles in their digital collection that have multiple release versions, this is a big deal. In a perfect world it would have been addressed right out of the blocks. But what really sets Wiim apart from a ton of vendors for me is not just the pace at which development is happening, but the fact that user feedback is taken into account and the features that get added really reflect that.

I think there are a lot of people that don't have multiple release versions of albums, or for that matter are even aware how much difference there can be between them. Always seems odd to me on a lot of "audiophile" forums there is ad nauseam posting and discussion about hardware issues that are well beyond the scope of the human ear, while those seem people may ignore the fact that two different versions of the same album can have massive differences anyone can hear. You hear that a lot around talk of bit rates too. All things being equal, I'll take higher res over lower. But I'd much rather have a great master at 16/44.1 than a shitty one at 24/192. Kind of a missing the forest for the trees thing.
