Apologies if this question is in the wrong category.
I am thinking of buying the above floor standing speakers as they are now a good price and have reasonable reviews.
Does anyone on the forum have these speakers, if so are they worth buying to go with my Ultra?
Thanks in anticipation.

As active speakers, they do look like a good match for your Ultra - you could connect to them over rca, optical or even USB depending on which sounds best to you.

I've been using the older standmount version of these (M20 HD) with my Ultra for a while now and they've been great, so I can't forsee any problems with the M40 HD. I originally used the optical connection, but then assumed that the Ultra DAC was better than the speaker DAC and switched over to RCA. Not sure that I could hear any difference though!
Anyway, hopefully someone with the M40 can give you a better answer, but just wanted to give my thoughts on the M20.

They're quite low in height, check that's ok.

Treble driver would be way below my ear level on my sofa

250 mm x 710 mm x 296 mm (10” x 28” x 11.7”) with stabilisers

way too low, I'd have to use 10"-12" stands to raise them so treble driver is ear level

Did I miss a point when anyone asked you about the height of your ears or your sofa???

I've viewed these speakers, they look weird. Not a standmount, and not correct height for a tower.

Of course you know treble drivers should be ear level not a good foot below it..right

"To help with imaging, Q Acoustics has positioned the tweeter right near the top of the baffle and the unit has been designed to promote wide dispersion. The DSP used in the speakers has also been adjusted to make the speakers more flexible in terms of positioning, so even if your seating arrangement has your ears sat above the top of the speakers, the stereo image performance isn’t negatively impacted."

"We saved several feet of MDF to reduce costs, here is some marketing nonsense why it's ok"

:D

I had just copied the above from What Hi Fi's review myself😂. You beat me to it.
It just depends how well Q Acoustics technology works in reality, does it do what they say?
The reason for choosing these speakers is they will fit under my TV so it will look a bit neater.
Plus I have had my Dali speakers for a good while now and technology moves on. Plus I could remove my amp as well.
I was thinking of a late Xmas gift for myself.

Not marketing nonsense. I've read a review of these speakers that found the treble dispersion to be fine despite the low position of the tweeter.

Q Acoustics are not at the cowboy end of the market.

Off-topic, but it was a post from this guy who made me curious about LMS. For more than 10 years now I am happy with Roon. My expertise is on other sectors than computing, coding and tinkering. But I appreciate and applaud the enthusiasm from so many to give their knowledge and time for a community. That is not irony!!

The reason for the q acoustics Md40 is they would sit in the space next to the unit under the TV. I would need to lift the TV 15 mm to get them in. My tweeters are at ear level at the moment but if Q acoustics technology achieves what they say then my wife would be happy. She really doesn’t like the speakers sitting outside of an 85" TV. If she's happy, then I get to be happy. 😊
