We still have this toy background on the Ultra home screen.@WiiM Team You may also consider to remove the background image of the home screen. That would make it look more professional.

Dlna etc etcYesssss maybe it's time to get the GUI on point, now that the constant flow of new features is starting to dwindle a bit (let's not forget about Plex though)
This thread is about the screen of the Ultras but enhancements are of course not exclusive.Dlna etc etc
Fonctions for all produits wiim...not just screen of ultra
Sorry for the delay... It's simply less depressing to see of an out-of-control, off-scale thumping needle.I forgot...
Remind me... what is the use of an FFT in this case?
If I'm not mistaken, the Ultra was released in June/July 2024...and since then, a FFT has been requested, constantly...a great classic (even if hardly used)Sorry for the delay... It's simply less depressing to see of an out-of-control, off-scale thumping needle.
That's why i do not use the current VU visualization.
with the VU meters among the most anticipated things in "dansing decoration"... clearly "seller", but if wiim does not have the resources to realize them or to realize them in a relevant way, which clearly seems to be the case over the months, we might as well move on to more useful things....A great classic, indeed...![]()
That is why some of us have tried to get WiiM to understand how you could actually create a analog VU meter design that could be useful in the digital domain.A digital peak meter had some usefulness but might be less pleasing to watch.
a true peak overload downstream of all digital processing would be useful...with referrals to Wiim Home for ALL Wiim products...WiiM didn't stop updating the "VU meters" again and again, so the topic is obviously still hot.
Personally I don't care much about these meters. But I musts confess that I find any attempt to create a "true" VU meter (which by very definition is an analogue device) completely pointless as long as the signal it's based on is in the digital domain. A digital peak meter had some usefulness but might be less pleasing to watch.
What is dB in this case? dBFS or dBvu?Hi Team,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Let me clarify how the current VU Meter works: it reflects the signal level after EQ processing (including pre-gain) but before the limiter.
We chose this design because many users prefer to monitor potential clipping in their system. Since the reading is taken before the limiter, the level can occasionally exceed 0 dB.
I hope this helps clarify. If you'd prefer to view the level after the limiter, we can consider adding an option to switch between the two display modes.
That's logical indeed... (it would have been good to clarify this earlier)Hi Team,

Hi hgo58,What is dB in this case? dBFS or dBvu?
Is it using 24 bit or 32 bit values?
I assume the description above is for the output. What about the original signal?
Thanks! Does the VU meter show peak level, or some kind of average level (and if so how is the average calculated)? We chose this design because many users prefer to monitor potential clipping in their system. Since the reading is taken before the limiter, the level can occasionally exceed 0 dB.
Good.Hi hgo58,
It's for the output and in dBFS (the digital audio signal is used for calculation). If the original signal is chosen, it never exceeds 0dB.

Please release a visualizer for those of us using tablets as a display/controller.Hi Team,
Thank you all for your great suggestions. We plan to release more clock faces in Oct. Please feel free to send us your ideas so we may incorporate them into our future releases. Thank you!
