I would send audio over HDMI directly, done that in the past- rather than deal with BT for things like that.

I am not sure if that works. The HDMI input is HDMI arc only.

I have a AV pre-amp. Sources including the Wiim Ultra go into the av pre amp.

Yup that works if you aren't using the Ultra's room correction.
