Spotify Bricked My WiiM AMPs

Ahh OK. I guess that's worth a shot. My only concern with that is in the Spotify forums people had mentioned that they had Google Cast Enabled on their AMP and they had to do a factory reset just to get it disabled again. I guess a factory reset isn't really much of a hassle but still.
As @slartibartfast mentioned, after enabling Google Cast in the wiiM app, you need to turn the toggle off.

Yes that is true that GoogleCast can't be completely disabled without a factory reset but if the device appears as a GoogleCast target in Spotify even if it is completely disabled that isn't really an issue. Spotify Connect only seems to work if GoogleCast is enabled on the WiiM device but disabled in settings. Strange but apparently true 🤷‍♂️

You might be the only one seeing this behaviour. As soon as I enable GoogleCast on that second page I can only connect from Spotify using GoogleCast.
How can you see what connection type is used? I don't get any indication but as it works the same way no matter what the Google Cast is set to, I assume it is Spotify Connect.

I had the issue before on a One Plus phone. I still can't select what connection to use but it looks like it always uses the Spotify Connect now.
I'm not sure about OnePlus, but since the issue hasn't been resolved on my Samsung yet, I don't think the situation has changed. This problem hasn't occurred on Xiaomi devices.

For Spotify Connect I see no text below the device name and for GoogleCast the text Google Cast appears below the device name.

Ok so looks like I'm not the only one .

I noticed a few days ago that I could no longer connect Spotify to any of my Wiim devices throughout the house. I Use wiim as multi-room running several Wiim amps to ceiling speakers and then ultras/pro plus to hifi set ups.

i too noticed 'Google cast' now next to my devices in the Spotify devices selection screen which as of last week were never there before...click on the device and it just 'hangs' on connecting and never actually connects. I too, do not have Google cast enabled and I've never used it so not sure why it appears there now all of a sudden.

From reading above I guess my Spotify app must have auto updated to this new, non compatible with wiim Edition.

I've had several back and forths with wiim technical help, all of their solutions have failed to resolve the issue.

I'm Running an Samsung galaxy s21
... wonder if I am going to have to finally be forced to get that phone upgrade I've been putting off for years to resolve this !?

As mentioned in earlier posts you can get Spotify Connect to work by counter intuitively enabling GoogleCast on the WiiMs then disabling them in WiiM GoogleCast settings.

After testing all weekend this does indeed seem to be the workaround. I activated GoogleCast on both my AMPs then disabled and it seems to be working consistently. It sucks that we have to activate it all though. I'd much rather have it not announce itself as a GoogleCast device if it isn't activated.
