I tried to access Spotify via de Wiim home app, like I often do with Tidal. However, I get a Spotify screen that simply refers to the Spotify app. Is this a new feature or is ghere something wrong with my Wiim home app?

Hi Alcor Quarry and all
I use only Spotify connect on my Wiim pro plus through an old nad amp and a pair of kef speakers. Great detailed sound and can use a remote on my old analog amp brilliant.
However the Wiim app although basically smooth in operation has a few quirks when opening Spotify. Problems arise if like me your Wiim box has a direct ethernet connection but your room has marginal reception to your WiFi router Going outside the room to gain WiFi will connect the Wiim app on my phone to Spotify.
Also if my Wiim box starts on a pre set other than Spotify i.e. Vtuner or Tune in radio I cannot connect Spotify via my phone app. If I use a pre set using a saved Spotify playlist I can connect a new Spotify session straight away.
Hope this helps

"Going outside the room to gain WiFi will connect the Wiim app on my phone to Spotify." --> Don't understand what you mean. The device (phone, tablet whatever) needs a stable wifi connection to execute a Spotify Connect connection to your Wiim and needs to be on the same network (subnet) also, that's just basic networking and nothing wrong with the Wiim nor the Wiim Home app. Your other comment about not being able to start "a new session" is also directly tied to a poor wifi connection.
And I think that's basically all @snoopebj wanted to say.
The moral of the story is simple, though. With a network streaming device, an Ethernet connection for this device only gets you so far: If your controlling device (usually a phone or tablet) doesn't have stable network access you are very much limited in what you can do.
An additional wireless access point should be a reasonably easy fix.
