Sub Pro Volume Level Question

What's the better approach to RoomFit correction—should I apply it to the entire setup, or start by correcting just the subwoofer?
That greatly depends on your specific setup. Which WiiM devices do you have?

There's nothing wrong with starting your own thread if you feel unsure about the best way to set things up.

Does it sound good?

If you feel the bass is too strong, I suggest running RoomFit with just the subwoofer to flatten its response. An 80Hz crossover should be fine.
Is there a way to look at the RoomFit graph without doing an evaluation?

I think the WiiM Sub does a great job at extending the lower bass naturally. If one is looking for a bass effects machine perhaps not the unit to use. I think that WiiM never claimed that.

I wasn't really looking for a bass effects machine. I just couldn't really tell when the sub was on or off. Basically I didn't have enough gain. It's much better now thanks to the awesome support in this forum.

I wanted to chime in here as I experienced the exact same confusion.

For context, I just received my WiiM Sub Pro yesterday and have it hooked up to my WiiM Amp, which is driving a pair of Davis Acoustics Courbet N4 floorstanders (frequency response 51-25,000 Hz). Both Wiim Amp and the Sub Pro are running the latest firmware.

I noticed that the Subwoofer Output On/Off toggle in the WiiM Home app seems to behave differently depending on how you are connected. It appears that the On/Off toggle only effectively disables the subwoofer if it is paired via Wi-Fi. If you have the subwoofer connected via the wired RCA/Sub Out, toggling that switch in the app doesn't actually cut the signal to the sub. Just like the OP, this was baffling for me at first because I was toggling it back and forth and literally couldn't tell the difference between the subwoofer being "On" or "Off"—turns out it was just staying on the whole time. Once I unplugged the RCA cable and paired the Sub Pro again via Wi-Fi instead, the toggle worked perfectly and I could finally very clearly hear the difference when switching it on and off.

On that note, I’ll likely be starting a separate thread soon regarding the RoomFit results. I’ve run the calibration, but I’m looking for a bit of help interpreting the graphs to ensure I'm getting the best performance out of this new setup.

Hope this helps!

Did you report the on/off toggle issue to WiiM via feedback in the app?

Not yet, but I will. I want to bundle that with a few other feedbacks, but I will definitely flag it.

When you submit a ticket, your device logs are sent along with it. Therefore, I recommend submitting one ticket per issue. (This also makes it easier for the support team to manage.)

The Subwoofer Output On/Off toggle is working perfectly well for me, but my Sub Pro is connected to my Ultra by cable, and it is also paired via Wi-Fi.

How did you manage that? Did you pair it via Wi-Fi before connecting the cable?

I had the cable connected before setting up the Sub Pro, and just followed the instructions in the App.

And did you choose 'Wired' when doing the setup in the app?

I ask because I tried two different methods when I first installed the WiiM Sub Pro:

Setup 1: I paired the Sub Pro via Wi-Fi with the RCA cable unplugged. I then plugged in the RCA cable without re-doing the pairing procedure. At that point, I could see two subwoofers in the app, and toggling On/Off indeed turned the sub on and off (if memory serves).

Setup 2: After deciding I'd go wired, I unpaired the Sub Pro and ran the pairing procedure again, this time explicitly choosing 'Wired'. After that, I could only see one subwoofer in the app, but that's when I couldn't tell the difference when toggling it on or off (and I still can't).

Based on this observation, my assumption is that once you've paired the Sub Pro via Wi-Fi, plugging in the RCA cable actually makes no difference. The sub likely continues to be driven via Wi-Fi, ignoring the wired connection.

Yes, that is what I did, and the On/Off toggle works well, and the difference is quite noticeable.
OK. I'll try doing a factory reset of the Sub Pro and running the pairing procedure again to see if that resolves the "On/Off" issue.

However, one part of your previous message is puzzling me:
"my Sub Pro is connected to my Ultra by cable, and it is also paired via Wi-Fi."
If you chose 'Wired' during the pairing process, how can your Sub Pro also be paired via Wi-Fi? I believe those connections are mutually exclusive?

I’m just testing the toggle again, and the difference is like night and day. If in any doubt, I would suggest placing your hand in the Sub Pro slot, and touching the rubber surround of the driver and turning the toggle on and off.

It is paired by Wi-Fi presumably in the same way that any WiiM device is, and this allows it to show in the WiiM Home App, but it is still connected by cable.
