The competition doesn't sleep

This is my experience as well.

Most people I know (who aren't into audio) just use TV / laptop / BT speakers, and earbuds.

People who own soundbars, smart speakers, or over-ear headphones are seen as audio enthusiasts by most.

People who even know what a streamer does seem to be a very small minority among the general population.

This forum is not representative of the general population. :D
Statistics indicate that 50% of all households in North America own a soundbar. 😄
(I don't know if that's true or not..)

Yeah,
Therefore, even if Yamaha releases a successor to the WXC-50, I can't see how it could compete on equal footing with streamers like the WiiM in terms of functionality (and likely sound quality as well).
🤷🙂
The WX series kind of was but, needed updating. Pretty much that simple. Yamaha has suddenly hit a wall in this specific kind of component.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a stereo pair of wireless streaming loudspeakers please?

They must ‚speak‘ DLNA/UPnP, ideally have vTuner on board and should be not much bigger than these:

This is.a Bluesound Pulse Flex 2i, which I have a pair of used in stereo. Sonically I‘m happy with them, but I want to get off the BlueOS train. I make very regular amendments / additions to my local library. Updating my UPnP server is quickly done and is instantaneously available on WiiMs and other UPnP devices. Not so on the Bluesouds. They have their own library via SMB sharing. Letting them rescan takes a bit and it just feels so useless with a server being on my local network.

Naturally I have considered the Sound / Sound Lite. But I really don‘t like their pod design and all-over fabric jacket. I‘d much rather have a classic box design.

Any thoughts?

Something from the audio pro w range like this?

Not sure if these were already shared here? Can't find a lot of info or reviews on the brand. Looking pretty sleek!

They seem to make all kinds home automation stuff, smart electronics, commercial streaming solutions...

What about their a28 w speakers? Or any powered speaker that has an aux in which you can feed from a WiiM Mini?

Edit: or keep the speakers you have but feed one over optical from a WiiM Mini

They certainly can't produce a decent website 😁

People treating LinkedIn like it's their personal Facebook is an absolute mood. Insane.

I‘ve actually considered this option as well. I‘ll see.

Well, according to the URL it's just an official website test. 🤣

https://official.website.test.hansonggroup.com/

Maybe they will start a real website later. Are they still a test company? ;)

More importantly, are you test customers for test products running test software?

The competition doesn't sleep but it seems even with the benefit of releasing later, they haven't beaten the WiiM

I‘ve just ordered a Mini.
The USB socket on the Bluesound has a current output (it charges my iPhone) so I can (hopefully) power the Mini from there with a short USB cable. This will keep the cable clutter at bay, which was one of my concerns.
A new toy is on its way😀.

Amazon has delivered in sub-24 hours. A Mini, a short optical cable and a Remote 2. Yes, I’m a lazy bastard.
I was very sceptical about the chance to power the Mini from the USB socket of the Bluesound, which is speced at 5V/1A. I had found differing power consumptions for the Min,1.5A and 1A, both from WiiM websites, mind you. Anyway it works as planned.
Very happy, as I am now on the WiiM platform with UPnP for this little system as well.

Great, good to know. Enjoy :)

Just sharing personal experience:
Spent 4 years with a Bluesound Powernode (N330) I purchased before WiiM appeared.
Enjoyed the unit very much, reliable and easy to use. Build quality still significantly better than WiiM objectively and that is what you pay for with them.
Other than that now WiiM fixed the awful WiFi connectivity issue the regular Amp has (at least in my crowded environment) on the Amp Pro you get more power, better SINAD, good (and simple, heard Dirac is very complex) Room Correction, better and more important CONSTANTLY EVOLVING app, MUCH more lively forum and responsive support, free cables and remote for 62% (yes nearly 2/3) less money! In my case the Bluesound package will cost you €1203 where the WiiM is at €459, in all honesty that is a steal...
Considering Dirac is not even available on Bluesound's powered products range as we speak (has just been announced but it can easily take 6-12 months more to come - many users of the Bluesound forum have been asking for some basic EQ for years and are just ignored) it is a no brainer for many and hard to get why anyone would go after Bluesound except for build quality and marketing.
Appreciate missing AirPlay on WiiM is a bummer (for me as well) but can be mitigated with a Belkin SoundForm or even a WiiM Mini for cheap.
All-in-all I ended-up being lucky enough selling my Powernode (a lot of them are available on the second-hand market right now) and purchasing a new WiiM Amp Pro instead making a profit (!) while still significantly improving sound on all aspects (ability to automatically do RC + dedicated EQ on HDMI input was the real game changer to me, I can get movies dialogs now which was impossible with Bluesound)
Dirac just released on Bluesound's amplified range (N330 and N230 for now)
