Ultra keeps switching to HDMI input.

Here is the reply from Wiim re the HDMI auto sensing a signal and continually switching to HDMI input.

Ive noticed a pause/ play button at the bottom of the page which silences or stops the HDMI input.
I could be wrong but I dont recall it being there before.
Maybe the remedy is already implemented ?
Either way, its such a fantastic unit function and sound wise, i can put up with a small function not being perfect, or as Ronnie said, just use the optical input.
Thanks guys !

So I got this response from wiim support. I hope this will help.

Currently, HDMI auto-sense is enabled by default on the WiiM Ultra, and there is no option to disable it at this time. However, we plan to add a toggle switch for HDMI auto-sense in a future update.
In the meantime, you can switch the WiiM Ultra to a non-TV mode (e.g., Line-In or another source) before putting it into standby mode. This will prevent the device from being automatically woken up by the TV.
Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
WiiM Support

This is unfortunately not correct!

With all HDMI and auto sensing option disabled and input on streaming, the WiiM Ultra still wakes up from standby and change input to TV, when the TV is outputting sound to ARC.

Only difference from previous firmware versions is that the WiiM Ultra don't force the TV to change to ARC. So if the TV is on internal speakers only, the WiiM stay in standby.

We for sure need a way to disable the automatic HDMI ARC.

This is part of the answer I provided to WiiM for a similar reply.

"
There are these two use cases where everything is automated (always use ARC for the TV) and where all is manual (only use ARC for the TV when user select the TV input).

@hgo58 I agree with you and I have sent a further message . I will keep you posted.👍
What I would like is to regain the control of my TV speakers when I put the Ultra into standby after using hdmi on the ultra. I hope this makes sense

That is what I have asked for in the manual use case. When changing to other input or put in standby the WiiM Ultra should force TV back to internal speakers. This was working before latest firmware update.

In the automatic use case this should not happen as the TV should always output to ARC (unless changed by the user).

The use cases are not that complicated but @WiiM Team are getting it mixed up all the time.

I must admit I do get a bit confused with all the comings and goings around this.

Could you throw together a decision/state table or flowchart to document how you feel it should work e.g. tv on/off, cec enabled/disabled, ultra auto sense on/off, ultra cec on/off and the results expected?

There is a switch in the app to turn on/ off the auto Tv detection or HDMI input.
Wiim has replied to me saying the switch is disabled atm....
So you cannot stop the Ultra from auto detecting and switching to HDMI input.
I like to watch footy but listen to music at the same time, so it is a problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but currently there is no function to automatically switch to HDMI (or not).

Peter, the only toggle switch I see in the current app version 3.2.3 on Android is called "Automatically output audio to WiiM when TV is on". This is not intended to control the input switching.

The other toggle switch is labelled "Auto-sensing of Optical in". This switch explicitly mentions the optical input only, but actually did control the behaviour for HDMI ARC and Optical in the past (with no way to enable just one or the other. HDMI would always take precedence over optical).

Right now, this is no longer the case, as WiiM confirmed to you. Auto-sensing is currently always enabled.

Unfortunately, my posting was very misleading. What I meant to say is that there is no function to enable the automatic switch (or not). Sorry, I didn't proofread my post. We're all talking about the same thing.

It's Ronnie by the way. 😁
So what does that switch do? I don't think it does anything for me.

That's switched off too 👍

Hi Ronnie, I hope you know how much I appreciate you being around. The White Knight of the forum, working in the darkest underground, the secret Zorro version of @Wiimer! :D

My understanding is that this toggle switch is just intended to ensure, that the TV will send audio through the ARC (not its own speakers) when the WiiM device is connected. This does not necessarily enforce input switching.

I think that with this option disabled, the scenario asked for by @hgo58 and you should be achieved. Obviously, this is not the case.

Please forgive me that I don't mind it too much, as my preferred scenario (never use the TV's speakers) is bow working fine again. 😅 Sorry, guys.

The Ultra with its many many functions is a great bit of gear but it does take a bit to understand how it functions and what the settings actually do.
The switches are maybe not quite what i thought they were for but I still think the ability to switch off auto sensing function is a good option to include, and perhaps better explanations in the user manual would help users to understand better.
IT just seems logical to give users the option to select or deselect the preferred input option without the Ultra auto switching back to HDMI.
Will this become an option in future updates ?
Thanks guys

Whenever I turn on my TV, TV is changing output sound to Wiim device - as Wiim is always on. On Wiim, input also changes automatically to ARC. I don't like both.

Can I just turn on TV and listen it with my TV speakers, without switching also Wiim input?

It was working fine for a long time...

Can I just turn on TV and listen it with my TV speakers,
As a workaround you could remove the hdmi cable and use an optical cable from your tv to the wiim but you will need to ensure the function 'Auto sensing of Optical in' is disabled. Not ideal but it works for me.
