Ultra to Vibelink connection

What's the optimal connection between the Ultra and Vibelink considering I'll use the Ultra for volume control? Analog/RCA or digital out to Vibelink? I thought I have read that analog into the Vibelink provides 100w/ch vs 60w/ch for digital inputs. I understand the Vibelink DAC is newer, but is it that much improved (and circuitry around the DAC) in the Vibelink to go for a digital input?
Thanks for any suggestions/opinions.

My question is not about the vibelink but if the amp pro has received the same efforts on the thermal management side ??

ultra or amp ultra?

Besides, my question has been addressed from the beginning, more to the Wiim team, since Amp Ultra is not yet available.

The casing of my Vibelink has so far reached temperatures of 36-37 degrees C after several hours of listening, so it’s not too bad. 🤔
That's what you call "runs very cool", indeed.

I understand you worry about the additional heat sources in the WiiM Amp Ultra compared to the WiiM Vibelink Amp. I do not really understand why you assume that WiiM are completely clueless and didn't pay attention.

To me that sound a bit like seeking confirmation that the speaker jacks are really suited for 4 mm banana plugs, not 2.5 mm. WiiM did not officially state that this is really the case. So far, none of their amp products has ever failed to provide 4 mm jacks, but we must be careful, they might be trying to safe some space ...

... but how likely is that?

The product is different from the vibelink..integrates more things as you yourself expressed it...and as I pointed out...wiim had put forward on vibelink in their commercial proposal this point very precisely..and the approach at comparable power...
just that...
I was hoping for feedback from the wiim team, internal photo....etc

that s one of most importants things in this case..

I am sure you have good reasons but the only source I can find for the Vibelink is Amazon. I feel comfortable buying from Crutchfield because they have been in business a long time, will respond to questions and they are relatively close. Crutchfileld has never had a Vibelink for sale as far as I am concerned. They have been out of stock on the Ultra as well. I don't want to buy from Amazon but it appears I am going to have to if I want a Vibelink and an Ultra.

Hi there, I have a question regarding the vibelink's rca input: I've read that it is supposed to provide only half of the amp's power capability, but this doesn't appear on the tech specs provided by wiim, does it? Or at least not the ones I found on wiimhome.com
Also, on Erin's Audio Corner it has been tested using the rca input and reached the power specs.
Maybe I have missed something? Is this a real issue or just hearsay?
Thank you so much for reading

It's something that is not clear also for me, all the communication from Wiim are that the Vibelink is 200 W on 4 Ohm and 100 on 8 Ohm, and without distinction between inputs, so we as clients pretend to have the same output when and if connected with digital or RCA connection.
But then some test (it seems) to demonstrate that the full power declared is achieved only when connected via digital input and not with RCA, giving only around 60 W at 8 Ohm.
I don't know what is the truth and it would be nice also to have an explanation directly from Wiim people and understand why this lack of power (if it is) on analogue connection and (if it is) why it was not declared before?
Me, to be sure, have connected the Ultra to the Vibelink via digital cable, just in case...

Explained in the link I posted in comments #51 and #20 by the WiiM product manager...

See this post https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/wiim-talks-vibelink-amp-continued.6995/

I'm sure there are others too, and equally sure @harkpabst and others will shed more light on this :)
I think the interesting thing there is the comment 'Processing and receiving the analog input has a tendency to increase the temperature at high levels.'

What additional processing happens on the analog input to cause the increase in temperature that doesn't happen with the digital one? Once the digital signal has gone through the DAC, they'd be the same wouldn't they?

Indeed. The Vibelink doesn't even convert the analog to digital so what processing is taking place?

Hmm seems strange that the wattage is lower on the analog than digital output, can't seem to been experiencing this with other manufactures before, seems strange to me also 40 watt down is more than just a little.

More strange is that anybody of us make a big complaint on that, and all are so happy with the NON explanation of what (if proven real) it's a big difformity between what is promised and advertised to what is real.
Everywhere and particularly here, on this forum.
But...
