Two sticks should do it.
Usb sticks aren't reliable backup medium

Do you think everyone backs up PC data?Since @Swan55 mentions a PC based music library I assume that the USB memory device will hold a copy of that data, which will be backed up in the same way as every other data on said PC.
No big deal.
Obviously people should ensure that they backup everything that is important and, if we are talking Windows, the easiest way is to use One Drive but IIRC that doesn't include your "Music" folder by default.Do you think everyone backs up PC data?![]()
Backups on one drive music library backed up on 4 external hard drives also my astell and kern dap has the full libraryDo you think everyone backs up PC data?![]()
What annoys me about One Drive is that it's a pain to separate the things you want to be backed up and everything else. I often find One Drive is nearly full just because I am working on vinyl rips and they have ended up in a backed up folderBackups on one drive music library backed up on 4 external hard drives also my astell and kern dap has the full library![]()
Nearly all IT professionals I know switch off the Desktop backup in One Drive but leave Documents and perhaps Pictures - they use Desktop as a transient store. My vinyl rips go to somewhere outside the scope of One Drive altogether and my resultant FLACs go to my NAS which has a backup strategy involving another offsite synchronised NAS.What annoys me about One Drive is that it's a pain to separate the things you want to be backed up and everything else. I think it’s in the wiim_cache folder on the usb stick itself. When a WiiM indexes a USB stick where does it store that index? Is it on the device it is attached to?
If you backup the entire stick and re-write to a new USB stick is that file still valid do you know?I think it’s in the wiim_cache folder on the usb stick itself.
Don’t know tbh - guess it depends on whether the WiiM detects that it’s a different usb stick and if so, may want to re-index. One for WiiM to answer I’d think…If you backup the entire stick and re-write to a new USB stick is that file still valid do you know?
I must do that. Desktop is the worst.Nearly all IT professionals I know switch off the Desktop backup in One Drive but leave Documents and perhaps Pictures - they use Desktop as a transient store. Is that important?Do you think everyone backs up PC data?![]()
That is true but it really isn't very sensible to simply rely on the reputation of a USB stick manufacturer without due regard for a disk failure in any event. We don't need to continue any discussion about how to backup now the point has been madeIs that important?I choose my words carefully.
All this discussion is nice and well but the question was not about how and why to backup data but simply which USB memory devices could be recommended for using the WiiM Ultra's music server.
