Volume-dependent Loudness Compensation

Hi WiiM team,

I’d like to request a volume-dependent loudness compensation feature (dynamic EQ linked to volume).

At lower listening levels human hearing loses sensitivity to bass and some highs. A loudness mode that automatically boosts low (and slightly high) frequencies as volume decreases — and returns to neutral at higher volumes — would keep the tonal balance natural without manual EQ adjustments.

Suggested basics:

  • On/Off toggle in the app
  • Adjustable strength (Gentle / Medium / Strong or slider)
  • Neutral EQ at high volume, increasing compensation as volume goes down
  • Works alongside user EQ, with safe limits to avoid clipping
This would greatly improve low-volume listening, especially with bookshelf speakers, TVs, and late-night use.

Thanks for considering!

This has been requested many times before. Here is one of the latest threads

Dynamic Bass already exists for the WiiM Sound so it may be added to other devices.

As long as it can be turned off, then I have no objection to such a feature.

It’s also mentioned as being worked on in tne Ultra roadmap

I think it is good to have a new track on this, despite the other ones, as WiiM seems not especially prone to go ahead. I would find it very useful too (WiiM Pro+)...

There may be a workaround as follows, but would use a couple of smart presets.
1. Setup a smart preset with your normal EQ settings.
2. Set a smart preset with a night setting EQ that you create and name.
3. Set all your other presets to follow current EQ, you can do the same with the volume.
Then when you use the normal EQ preset, all your other presets will follow until you select the night setting preset, then all your presets will follow that setting until you go back to your normal preset EQ settings..
I know its not volume dependant, however it could help.

Don’t get your hopes high yet since there’s no time line unlike previous roadmap when to expect them.

Not bad, but I guess a dynamic approach, as suggested, is difficult to beat!
2 positions will never suffice…
