Volume range when using the remote

With the remote my volume is jumping by '3'. For example 36-39-42, etc. Not seeing a setting to change this. Is this the norm? Thank you.

Yes, it's how it works unfortunately. Except for 96 to 100
Your phone / tablet buttons should be able to change it by one with a short press, and probably change it faster than the remote does with a long press.

I don’t think it’s annoying, and usually find it necessary to press a volume button two or three times before noticing any real difference in volume.

If you want finer control, this is available in the WiiM Home app, where touching the volume slider on either side will alter in increments of one.

Also,one of the wiim's main feature is being a preamp.
So I think it's important to have precise volume control.

What volume levels are you using? I can imagine changing between 4 and 7 is vastly different from 33 to 36 for example.

Which output are you using? In case it's the analogue line out just reducing the output voltage might complete solve the issue.

I feel 2dB is more appropriate, 1dB would also be acceptable, 3dB is a significant jump. As said its not good in the evening when others are in bed, I have no other equipment with such a course adjustment. In my professional life it was always 1dB on DSP audio routers costing thousands for public broadcasting systems.

A jump of 3 in volume isn't 3dB

I believe the essential problem with the WiiM remote is that the volume is always a multiple of 3. If you set the reference volume to 80% in the WiiM app, you can't get it back to 80% using the remote's volume buttons, forever. (78% then 81%)

Quite possibly not, it actually sound like more, either way its too high.

My Amp remote is jumping by 2 per button press. No idea why.
It actually goes
100, 98, 96, 94, 92, 90, 88, 86, 83, 80, 78, 76
so all 2s apart from a couple of 3s. Weird.

I have also noticed increments of 2 per button press, but not always, sometimes it does 3.

The only 2 3s I saw were 80-83 and 83-86

As you say, Amp and Amp Pro do.

However, they do not actually jump by 2, but always in multiples of 2. It is impossible to set the volume to 81% on the remote...
