Volume range when using the remote

However, they do not actually jump by 2, but always in multiples of 2. It is impossible to set the volume to 81% on the remote...

Indeed, it can't be set to 82 either.

I think that perhaps you misunderstood my post. I was saying that I would like the remote to operate in increments of 5, and not the 3 or occasionally 2 that they currently do.

No it jumps from 80 to 83 then 86 then 88.

I’ve put in a ticket for increment one. I thought we were done with coarse minimum volume adjustments when we stopped using stepped resistor ladder volume controls, a pretty long time ago alas.
Yamaha WXC-50: 0.5 dB
Any Squeezebox: 0.5 dB

Yes, I made a mistake; 16 and 18 are skipped.

84(100-16), 82(100-18) are skipped, which may be relevant.

I think it would be good to be able to set the step volume in the app from 1 to 5 as I have my Ultra directly into a power amp. I have turned down the max volume and the output voltage but an adjustable step volume would please everyone I think.

Quite possibly not, it actually sound like more, either way its too high.

I just tried a very unscientific test using pink noise and an external microphone plugged into my phone measuring SPL at various volume settings. It seems the volume change per step increases at lower levels.
