So since the last ultra update I have been getting an issue where the left channel would drop for 2-3 seconds
First thought was to reboot the ultra that worked until the next day and my first thought was oh bugger my Sonos is finally dying 😢
So tonight I rebooted both the Sonos fives and the ultra no improvement
Then while I was fixing the stand on the right side the cable was making strange noises when moved/touched
Replaced the cable tried a few tracks all seems ok but will test more tomorrow 👍
Just shows the simplest things can fix an annoying problem
And before I am asked it was a supplied 3.5to dual phono plugs that came with the ultra
It lasted a few months at least😊

I had the same problem when I bought a Wiim Mini a few years back, the supplied cable was faulty. Replaced it with another one I had and never a problem since.

Didn’t fix it my first track is dropping out more often now 😢

Ticket raised but I have switched the phono plugs to see if right channel drops

I've got a similar problem. When first used after period of time (a few houres), it drops audio completely for about 3 sec every 30 seconds for 10 minutes, and then its fine. I'm dealing with support over this, but so far no luck. It's like its trying to connect to something, but fails. Does this on WiFi or ethernet.

Well I swapped left and right phono plugs but left speaker still dropped 😕

After a couple of hours playing no dropouts happened so it’s very curious anyway updated my ticket hopefully they will get it sorted
And this is only since the last firmware

This does rule out the cable, but it does not rule out the device the 3.5 mm jack plugs into ...
Ok after your post got me thinking so I swapped the 2 5s removed the stereo pair and sub,was nervous about doing this as I am using 16.1 still and didn’t want to upgrade
So surprisingly it did this smoothly enough 👍
So played one track that dropped out a lot this morning and no dropouts
Will do a full test in the morning but thanks for your input hopefully this will fix it until I replace them in November 😊

Oh dear my whole system is now updating FGS
Look’s like after a year dodging this c••p they finally forced it
Couldn’t control the 5s anymore wouldn’t work unless I updated 😢
