What do you think the future holds for digital music/audio ?

There are some great AI creators out there. Kelly Bosch is my favourite so far. London Nights video and music track all AI…

The mix of a studio recording has to be a bit of a compromise. It may sound fantastic on the studio monitors but, it will get played on all sorts of equipment, headphones, car systems, cheap portable stereos etc. to see how it sounds before the mix is finalised.

So I don’t think a ‘one eq for all’ ever works in the real world. Almost every lister will adjust their equipment to try and get the sound to their liking.

that relates to my 'sci fi' idea .. the embedded metadata in the audio track would instruct your equipment how to set EQ, soundstage whatever it may be called to be as close as is reasonably possible to the original sound as engineered by artist or studio so not 'one' EQ but EQ auto adjusted on your equipment .. unless you are @Aquaman then you switch that option off

i believe at the moment so-called Ai is not actually Ai, but is just 'regurgitating' existing content in a 'slightly' different form. Once the 'computers' reach a point of 'sentience' and produce original as yet unthought ideas then we will move into a different world.

the big issue at the moment imho. is who 'owns' what .. if Ai creates music tracks based on aquired music data. is that original ? do the original 'artists' get credit bit like when 'sampling' old tunes appeared in music, the new version had to honour the original.
in many peoples views Ai is 'stealing' all our stuff .. well i say Ai i mean bezos, zuker and the gang 🤬

I feel that you should find a phylosophers forum.

...if that were possible, I would win the lottery every weekend.

All joking aside, I recommend the linked text for mixing, bearing in mind that mastering still follows. I don't think it's possible to take all constellations into account.

I am more concerned with compression than EQ. To much of the former makes music boring on good equipment in a quiet environment. On the other hand listening to Mahler on the bus is impossible…

I think the most likely thing to happen will be embedded firmware that will require some sort of paid-for key to allow a limited number of plays of serial numbered tracks (so the original purchaser can be traced and fined or jailed when the files end up on the Pirate Bay).

Maybe also the feudalism that we seem to heading toward will have a few great musicians patronized by the uber wealthy and the rest of us can go f ourselves. Long before we reach that point we'll have many other things to worry about.

Every sentence in my head someone else has said

The Who....905

@Malc ... 'AI creators' not sure that makes sense .. .. they pushed the 'create' button.
Have you ever actually made music with SUNO?
Creating music with "Custom" is incredibly deep and fascinating.
Creating music exactly as intended is difficult, and that's what makes it so interesting.

I think it's worth trying at least once.🙂

i just tried free suno on the homepage .. bit of fun but not really my thing.
Im not against Ai as a future technolgy, in music, medicine, tech, the arts etc its more about 'who controls it' and their intentions.
As @mrehorst suggested 'monetising' the tech will come very soon, the only reason it looks free at the moment is because 'its' harvesting all the data in the world by encouraging 'us' to use for free. ...

bezos and the boyz are busy bees because they know who ever controls the most data controls the world ... Mwahahaha

Most of what carries the AI sobriquet is not real AI but more or less souped up algorithmic programming. The real AI is still a way down the generative production line. We don't know what the outcome will be once the technology achieves singularity and potentially independent of and by human design and control. I have an image of a sublimely innovatory robot orchestra performing celestial moving symphonies being sharply interrupted by a hideously demonic one-robot band screeching and howling out the music 🎶😭🤖😱👹🤖🤖🤖🤖

I pay for a Pro Plan subscription. 😂

Even if someone makes a fortune off it or the information I provide gets used elsewhere, I couldn't care less.

The fun of Suno is like building a Plastic model kit. I assemble music using countless prompts.

Listening to music created by others is nice, but listening to what I've made myself is incredibly fun. I've found a great hobby, so came here less often 😂

A clear sign of the downside of AI - @Wiimer spending less time here ;)
