What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Just improve internal dac and no additional connections? I’m not replacing my pro.
Fine. Maybe the next model will have more of what you want :)

It looks like WiiM are taking an incremental approach to hardware development similar to their firmware/feature updates - fixing areas where the device can do better. If you read the comprehensive review of the Pro in ASR, its analogue side came in for criticism and its DAC being the same as the Mini‘s has been viewed by some as lacklustre. So in the next version of the Pro, WiiM are attempting to address these issues with a device that has a better DAC that may well obviate the need for a number of users to go purchase a separate DAC and further allow WiiM to compete with integrated devices costing considerably more.

You also need to consider that this will be WiiM’s third device in almost eighteen months - i struggle to think of another manufacturer who has brought three generations of a device to market in such a short period of time.

I don't agree..
on the contrary it is very well known practice among our Chinese dac manufacturers .. topping smsl etc.
;-)))

You have a point but for those of us want to upgrade knowing it’s just internal dac improvement only most of us will stay on current pro except for new buyer or upgrading from mini. Many users who commented what features they would be disappointed. Pro with improved internal dac only.

Perhaps. But I’m sure you’ll recall some people clamouring for the Pro to have a new DAC better than the one in the Mini but still bought the Pro, admittedly maybe for its other features.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some think the next version of the Pro was perhaps what the first version should have been but we don’t have the background knowledge of its development and approval cycle nor of its component availability.

We can but hope WiiM is taking note of the other features users are asking for and will incorporate those into future models, but I see that extending over years not months.

WiiM without DAC and WiiM with high-performance DAC. Sorry neither looks attractive to me.

I already own a DAC and am also happy with the performance of the Pro. I don't think there could be any better than this.

I'm interested in more functional and complete devices, and more sophisticated apps.

I know few dacs offering usb that don't have toslink or spdif..

I don't know of a subwoofer that doesn't offer its own filter processing and low-level inputs...

I hardly imagine people ready to buy a "pro" not to do so because of the presence of an inexpensive internal DAC and therefore the additional cost of a few tens of dollars.
on the other hand the reverse is on..

we can't stop saying that "the jitter is a false problem"... that the wiims are bitperfect and at the same time claim more neat digital outputs, improved clocks...
and so the usb

a lot of small inconsistencies in my opinion....
;-))

in my opinion a better dac is useless, it will never be like the one we already own. We Need improved performances of the streamer by using a good clock and USB+I2S outputs. My two cents

can i then?????

digital output att/st, toslink,i2s, coax and aes (isolated or not) ..
race clocks of course.. femto?

a master clock input ...
input aes spdif coax..
ethernet..
usb..
phantom input for measurement microphone and therefore room processing and pec dsp etc.

dsd

and better of 192k/24

ultra hdg power supply with multiple local power supplies.
shielding of sensitive areas...

but thanks to the forgetting of the dac ( and wires!!)..,
can we get this for 250 bucks?
pleaaaase...🥺🥺🥺
(and I'm not picky.. a discreet unpretentious aluminum case would be enough for me ..)

no, it's easier, remove the dac and save, add two controllers and two outputs, these are just wishes, wiim will choose what to sell.

not wanting to exaggerate..i omitted dante accounting output..
( and hdmi audio)
:oops::oops:

Assuming you own one, not everyone does. In fact I'd say what has help made the Wiim Mini successful is that a good number of users have bought one as their first step into the streaming world, including users who still have non budget legacy stereo setups that don't have digital inputs never mind DACs. And a good number of them have been persuaded to buy an external DAC to further enhance their setup. So the idea of a WiiM pro with an even better DAC will better serve that section of the market.

And re a better clock, has it not been mentioned that the master clock in an external DAC is more important? I admit I may have picked that up incorrectly.

I fear the drawback of membership of this and similar forums (like ASR) is the assumption that everyone is a 'audiophile' with bottomless pockets...

If this forum will show a way to make everyone pleased and satisfied...I will not hesitate to suggest it to the committee for the Nobel Price of Peace. 😉
We will be captured in such circles as long as developments, real or voodoo, take place.
Yeah, plus I think there are a fair share of unreasonable expectations whether in terms of features or timescales...

dante ?????? 🥺🥺
even at 300.. I buy!!!!:)
(320?)

You don't necessarily need an external clock, you don't expect an OXCO. I am not an audiophile but I see that there are starting to be devices like the nuprime omnia mini streamer that have good features and are cheap. A wiim dedicated to streaming only, with a good clock and compatibility with Amazon M. would be a winning device. the dac of the wiim pro is more than sufficient for those approaching hi fi. my two cents

Yes. But they said the next Wiim is a "for audiophiles" device. There may be inconsistencies and misunderstandings here.

....devices like the nuprime omnia mini streamer...
Looks like a DAC-less, Linkplay based, less feature rich WiiM mini with a i2s connection and arguably a nicer box at three times the cost. Or am I missing something? :)
