What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Are we allowed to ask?

Were you put under any sort of embargo?

Any idea why the reviews are trickling out?

Many thanks.
I don't want to derail the discussion. But I don't recall any type of embargo. I like to take my time testing. It's tough with these types of products because some things that are initially an issue, can be fixed with software updates.

I'm really hoping to see the Per-channel PEQ that was supposed to be out a while back according to their roadmap.

Hi joentell, Team

I’d like to update you on the per-channel PEQ feature, which has now been released for Beta testing. We plan to make it available to the public within the next two weeks. Additionally, our room correction feature utilizes the per-channel PEQ to provide enhanced sound quality. Stay tuned for further updates!

Is the PEQ per channel coming in 2 weeks only for iOS?

The support we get from WiiM is absolutely world class.

My Mini is almost a different product than the one I first bought, after all the updates.

I suppose the one downside is that, when people go looking for reviews, the read a review of the product as it was at that time, and may not realise how much it’s come on.

Please keep up the fantastic work.

Indeed, it can turn from evolutionary to revolutionary.

Regarding the failure to be Airplay certified, is anyone a bit suspicious that Apple is planning a streamer?

Not impossible, I suppose.

Indeed, if I may offer, I think WiiM is very ‘Apple’ in all the best ways (I’m aware there’s both good and bad).

Although I would love them for doing so, outside the usual suspect forums nothing, really nothing is to read or hear. At least at places I know 😉. What remains in my old brain is the question: What was the reason to launch lossless Apple Music for nearly no money? Stressing the market? The only target would be Amazon. Interesting times and this times will tell.
We are entering a post ownership era. Every company wants a continuing revenue stream.

Apple is well positioned to go head to head with Sonos. They share the same customer demographic.
I as a Sonos user can tell you that they are in trouble atm
The latest version of the application is abysmal I actually bought a WiiM mini to plug into my Sonos 5 system as a test before I unload them, not used the Sonos app since buying the mini
There’s more chance Apple buys Sonos 😜

I’ve heard that rumor.

As for Sonos being in trouble, I have two thoughts: Vista, Windows 8.

Well the software issues are not rumour Wirecutter has removed Sonos recommendations just saying
I’ve looked high and low, started a query thread at ASR, asking if there is a good alternative to Sonos.

There is nothing out there at any price that supports my rather meager collection of streaming services. Roon does everything but Audible, but that’s a deal breaker for me. My system works fine with Sonophone and SonoPad.I’m riding this one out.

I am on pre update software and firmware I have replaced my moves and roams with echo speakers and battery packs WiiM mini plugged into my Sonos 5 system which I am replacing with an ultra at xmas
It’s not the faults but the company attitude that is bad where as WiiM seems more responsive to users
Just my opinion 😊

I just chromecast Audible to my Muso qb2. Hardly ever use Sonos via its own app in any event.

I use the tablet app. The difference is like the difference between a CRT TV and an 85 inch TV.

There are dozens of ways to stream things, but it’s nice to have all services on one app, and no server required.

I also think it’s a major architectural innovation to have every device do its own streaming, while the app just initiates the transaction.

Some of the Sonos services, eg. BBC Sounds & Spotify are dreadful compared to the native apps.

Yeah. I doubt it would be easy for anyone taking on Sonos. For sure WiiM which are nowhere hardware speaker wise? Let alone the scaling pains for such a market. By the time any products are coming to market Sonos will have sorted out those app issues. Likely setting them up for next gen of hardware (not unreasonable pain/transition after being in the business for so many years with many active speakers of even first gen still functioning properly).

Personally the era100 look is a design mistake (probably functionally driven as it was designed to do surround sound/music better).

It should be decent sounding speakers, Sonos One design nailed it imo, WiiM full streaming/software functionality and undercutting the price by a bit as WiiM in the mass market is a unknown brand/beginner (so 150eur max?).

People here seem to think killing Sonos is an easy thing to do 😂

If you set up Spotify playlists elsewhere, they show up on Sonos. When you have spouses and guests, it’s good to have one point and shoot app. I have lots of Sonos playlists that mix tracks from services and my local library.
