Hi all! Great discussion and way to help each other out! We published our recap for 2024 and included a little spoiler that I thought I'd share with you all, just in case you're interested in learning more about what we might be working on next.

Basically the IOM Ultra but without power-on/-off pops and actually matching space grey color would basically do it.

How could any external device power the Ultra? It has no 12 V power input.
Now that's pretty cool news... Glad I was able to resist the wave of awesome (and some less awesome) Class D amps we've got over the last few years. My Rotel is still going strong, but maybe, just maybe I might switch to something more compact and matching the WiiM Ultra's design.
Unlike most, if not all Chinese class D amps, I hope it'll have power supply built-in (like the WiiM Amp) and will come in both colours.

In all seriousness though... many people appreciate the VU meter display mode in the Ultra. I think it looks pretty "meh" compared to a real analog meter. If it's going to be a true power amp, then why not add add a subtle meter at the front - as it probably won't have any other controls anyways. We can only hope they thought of something, because it's probably way too far in the development stage already.

Sorry I was being dumb, forgot it's an IEC cable, must have been thinking of my Douk DAC.
A vintage tuner/amplifier ReVox B285 is connected with my Ultra. It replaced my Cambridge CAX81 and NAD C289. In addition, the TV, one Blu-ray and two turntables are hooked up with the system. The features of B285 can be found here: https://hifi-wiki.com/index.php/Revox_B_285

Should arrive tomorrow. Bigger chassis though, but not by much. I think i looks more like the Ultra design wise. But thats just me.
Speakers are ATC SCM 7mk3 and XTZ 12.17 Edge subwoofers.
I have been looking at this myself to power a pair of Kef R3.
I run my ultra into my Willsenton r8 integrated tube amp. 25 watts of goodness. Match made in heaven

Im pretty happy with my current setup. added the vibelink amp to the stack.
ultra -> usb out -> smsl su1 -> RCA -> vibelink amp -> B&W 705
but i'm also just a normie, not some audiophile trying to squeak out that optimal sound.

I have nearly this same setup except I’m running optical out of the ultra so I can use an external power supply and trigger with the usb input of the su-1. It works great and sounds fantastic with the vibelink. I’m loving the smooth warm sound coming out of the su-1.
I have the smaller hypex ncore 125 amplifier from Audiophonics , a very similar amplifier to s250nc with lower power. The sound gets better if lowering the gain to 13 dB ( the 5532 mod, desoldering two smd resistors making the two 5532 unity gain )

This is an advice for all of you using the hypex ncore modules thinking they have to much gain , if you know how to desolder SMD components . The ncore 122 module has a gain of 25,5 dB . The ncore module 122 and more, can be modified by desoldering two smd resistors at the buffer stage ...
The sound this way is very good regardless of price.
A vibelink or newest 3e amplifier using tpa3255 is very similar sounding.
…and you always have this amplifier, but probably needs the 5532 gain mod if its gonna be directly coupled to a dac.

I started with a FOSI AMP ZA3 wich I liked very much but, with my B&W 805S, it was a very little bit harsh. I believe that it has also to do with the speakers themselves (their awesome but not that easy to drive and a bit on the bright side
).I then bought a pair of FOSI MONO AMP V3 (they have PFFB to further turn the amp more independent on speakers impedance variations over frequency). The same power and quality than the ZA3 but with no harshness. I further swap the three opamps on each AMP with the TI LME49720NA and it becames an even warmer sound.
Ultra with the room equalization (between 30 and 250 Hz), the FOSI MONO AMP V3s and B&W 805S is, in my opinion, a killer setup.
The WiiM Vibelinks came a little late for me (already had the FOSis) but I believe they would be very similar to the FOSI Mono AMP (they have PFFB also, if I remember well).
