Which NAS works well with WiiM Pro?

Yes, I meant like in the next 5 years I will be hard-pressed to hit 500GB leave alone 1TB in terms of my own experimental music files. Where I may go over 1TB is with movies.
If you are going to play movies then look seriously at Plex either instead of or alongside Synology Audio Server

Enough choice of server eh haha

How do I get LMS in there too? I thought LMS had UPNP media, I can see my AVR and TV in LMS.
Don’t bother. The Lyrion UPnP/DLNA Media Interface which is what is required has had no development for 10+ years. It’s basic to say the least. It’s only there for legacy reasons.

yeah just tried, pretty basic and slow- go into artists and shows thousands. Compared to LMS where it shows album artist with A-Z branch so much faster.

Basic? I don't think it handles classical but I'm pretty sure it handles everything else that LMS does (for local media) and then some e.g. offline, Android Auto, profiles e.t.c.

A scrollbar (A-Z) appears on the right when you start to page, although if I wanted to find an artist from a list of thousands I'd probably use search.

Wasn't trying to start a flame war, you just seemed a bit more receptive today ;)

EDIT: If you're looking at the web-ui then yes it is a bit basic, although it's really growing on me as more features are added e.g. Release grouping.

Not sure whether to start a new thread but this seems a logical place to post my request for guidance.

I currently have a Wiim Amp Pro with a hard drive of FLAC files (ripped CD's) connected to the USB port. However, I'd like to use the USB port for wired headphones so I've decided to build a music server.

My plan is to buy a Raspberry Pi, set it up with LMS and the hard drive, (hoping to use the Pi headless from a Windows 11 PC), and connect to the same WiFi as the Wiim.

I've found a few YouTube tutorials and it seems straightforward.

Before I start does anyone have any advice or recommended links to help me. Or possibly suggest alternatives. I don't have a huge library, circa 200 + CD's.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Look at Picoreplayer (PCP)

well supported and headless on a Pi with web based configuration

You should be able to use usb hub to drive the headphones as well as the usb drive. Something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CQRN5CB9

I use a pi5, 4GB . picoreplayer, 64GB SSD. so yes it's headless. Can install picoreplayer/lms on micro sd then music on a HDD.

Just buy picoreplayer image onto microsd or 2.5" SSD or NVME, let it boot, find it on network, extend parition, create USB partition, install LMS.

With USB it would be be easy, with mine it was more tricky as I had to set NFS share, username/IP address etc but I got there.

Is that a typo? "Buy" = "Burn"

Thanks for the suggestions. The USB splitter option is probably the logical one for me but, the geek in me has been inspired by the Forum to experiment with a music server and the Pi.

It is straightforward. If you can use Ethernet though rather than WiFi. If it’s just acting as a server with attached USB it can sit next to your router.

@simbun and @rccarguy - I just want to thank you both for steering me in the right direction and inspiring me to learn more about NAS and various associated software solutions. You guys are a real asset to this forum.

Saw the Symfonium video, seems like a really nice product. Is it mainly for big local libraries?
It's just as happy indexing tracks stored on the phone or over a samba share as it is connecting with a server backend, the scale doesn't matter, although decent metadata does ;)
